So, what is Young Americans?
That's what you're asking yourself, isn't it?  Well, hopefully I've got that answer for you.
Warning, this page may not load properly if you aren't using internet explorer.
Young Americans was a sort-lived television drama that started as a spin-off of Dawson's Creek.  Mind you, I don't really watch Dawson's Creek, so you don't have to be a fan to enjoy Young Americans, obviously.
The only real connection between the two shows is the fact that Will, our main character, was a friend of Pacey's.

Young Americans is about five teenagers whose lives are thrown together in unexpected ways.
Will Krudski, Scout Calhoun, and Bella Banks are our main characters.  Hamilton Fleming and Jake Pratt are the side characters, but seeing as how I and many others enjoyed their storyline the best, most of this summary follows along that.
Don't worry, you'll find out about the others too.  Just not as much, heh.

Eight Episode Synopsis
Episode One:

Obviously I'm skipping the stuff I deem as non-important.

Let's just start here - with a first glimpse of
Hamilton Fleming.

He's in a room that is obviously a few stories up, and he's looking through the lens of a camera, getting some pictures from what's clearly the first day of school.

Just off to his right he hears a motor coming closer and
that's where we get a first hand look through his camera
at
Jake Pratt on Jake's beloved motorcycle.

"Cool bike," is all he says before taking a few more pictures and giving us a scene change

It's the first time we get to really see the main character in action,
Will Krudski.

He's from the town of New Rawley, and we soon find out that he's attending Rawley Academy For Boys, a local rich kids high school/boarding school, on an academic scholarship given every year to a student from the town.

We're also introduced to his roommate,
Scout Calhoun, who's
the clean cut, all American type rich kid extraordinaire.

He's the son of a senator and the entire line of Calhoun sons have attended Rawley Academy.

In comes Hamilton, the guy with the camera. He's definitely the pretty boy type, but he's got a catch to him...his father is the dean and his mother is the art teacher. But don't worry; he's not the narking type.

As all three boys look out the window we see people running to the lake, so...Will and Scout follow. They, in turn get picked up by some seniors and dragged into town in their underoos.

This is where we get to meet
Bella Banks, long blonde hair
along with perfect skin, another townie who happens to work at
her father's gas station.

She obviously doesn't much like the rich kids at Rawley, and her distaste seems to be a huge turn on for Scout.

On their walk back to the school we find out, through means of 'okay, then beat this one' that Will cheated on his entrance exam, but Scout's not going to tell. (non-narkies in this show, apparently)

Next, we get to see all of them in their English/Regatta class.
(remember...this is a summer session, not the beginning
of fall...things are a little different)

Hamilton approaches Jake about his 'bike' that's not allowed on school property, Jake gets a bit miffed, understandably but Hamilton says he'll keep it a secret - he's like a Swiss vault. Jake's not so sure.

Enter
Finn - pretty young guy and definitely one good looking
English teacher.

He's the longhaired, philosopher type, and absolutely loves Shakespeare. So, let's hop on the boat and row, shall we? Jake's small - he gets picked as coxswain.

Skip a bit.

We find out that Scout's totally infatuated with Bella. Who wouldn't? She's Miss Perfect and she can fix a car. Will's feeling guilty for cheating. Of course, they'd have to be talking about it while they're in their beds and Finn's just out in the hall, fixing a light that's having some problems. Basically, he knows Will cheated now.

Cut to Hamilton at Jake's door. We find out Jake's quite the little computer hacker, and that's exactly how he got into this school. He's been to six schools and he's just waiting for someone to notice.

Scout decides to pay a visit to Bella. She's working - he'll wait.
They take a nice little bike ride, talk all day long, and fall hopelessly in love.
Here's an inside scoop,
Charlie isn't Bella's real dad.
Her mom had an affair and she doesn't really know who her dad is.

Cutting to nighttime. We're in Jake's room and Jake is getting ready for bed. Jake pulls something out from under his shirt and then takes off his shirt. This is the first time we find out that Jake's really a girl. After all, guys just don't look that good in bras. Looks like there's something they all don't know about Jake.

So, now Finn decides to approach Will. Finn looks ticked. He says that it's up to Will to figure out what Will is going to do about it.

So, skipping ahead.

Jake and Hamilton are up on the roof to hack into the satellite feed. Hamilton is rattling on about how there's a total miscommunication between guys and girls. Basically, when a girl asks you something about you relationship, she completely means something else (i.e. When she says "I really, really like you." she means "I'm ready for a commitment, are you?") but then goes on to say that it's the same with guys, only they always mean the same thing no matter what the question (i.e. When a guy says "I really, really like you." what he really means, even if he's saying something to the like, is "I wanna have sex with you.") Big mistake...Jake leans in and kisses Hamilton. Boy is he thrown for a loop. She, intelligently, backs away and leaves the roof mumbling 'I'm sorry' over and over(though she looks really amused), with a very confused Hamilton just standing there.

So, Will decides to retake the test and Finn wants him to write an essay. So, he does both, and he's only got an hour and a half.

Scout goes to talk to Mr. Banks(we're under the impression that Mr. Banks hates Rawley kids) about being able to date Bella. Mr. Banks tells Scout that his dad and Bella's mom had an affair. So, he obviously told Scout that Scout and Bella...half siblings. Wouldn't that suck?

Finn's finished grading Will's test and approaches him about it. Will gets to stay.

Hamilton comes to talk to Jake. Jake apologizes, saying she can explain(we all know Hamilton thinks he's been kissed by a guy) and he just says that he wants to forget the whole thing ever happened. They're remaining to be friends and starting over. The best part - as Hamilton's walking down the hall after leaving Jake's room he mumbles to himself, "Oh my gosh, I think I'm a gay." Funniest look on his face!

So that's pretty much it for episode one, besides Will going all happy and Scout and Bella saying that they'll just have to deal with it all.

I'm skipping a few episodes for now until I have a chance to write them out - they're not really important enough.  Episodes two and three, we just get to see more of a connection between Jake and Hamilton, Scout's new girlfriend Paige, Bella's new boyfried
Sean(which just happens to be Will's best friend) and that's about it.

Episode Four:

Take too long to explain this episode, but the basics are that a new girl comes into town,
Lena, and takes a liking to Jake.  Hamilton gets jealous, although he doesn't realize what he's doing, and tells Lena he just doesn't see the whole thing between her and Jake.  Lena picks up the thought that Hamilton is gay.  Lena is a bold one.  She goes to talk to Jake and ends up trying to kiss 'him'.  Jake tells her that she's in love with someone and it just wouldn't be right.  Lena tells Jake that Hamilton said it wouldn't work.  Jake says she though Hamilton liked Lena.  Lena says, "No, I think he likes you."  Easy enough for Jake to get confused.  Lena leaves.

Well, we have the cotillion(school dance) and Lena basically pushes the two together.  Hamilton follows Jake into the men's' room and kisses 'him'.  Then he freaks out because their both gay.  That's when Jake drops the bomb.  "I'm a girl."  Obviously he freaks out, leaves her in the bathroom, and she resumes kicking herself for not telling him.

Later that night Hamilton shows up at Jake's door(knocking very quietly) and he forgives her, they kiss.  It's all very nice.

The only other thing to find out about is that Scout and Bella still have the hots for each other, but remain to keep their distance because dating your sibling is only legal in a few southern states.

Oh, and we find out that
Grace, Bella's younger sister, is pretty much a town slut.

Episode Five:

Just know that it's parents day and Hamilton has to help Jake from getting caught by anyone, as well as get back and forth from the rowing competition and the girls luncheon without having her mom suspect anything.

We find out that Jake's real name is
Jacqueline and that her mom's a big theater actress - very famous and very much out of the know how as far as Jake's concerned.

Jake doesn't get caught and her and her mom leave each other on decent terms.

We witness the struggles between Will and his dad(he loves his mom a lot), and Scout confronts his dad about Bella.
Senator Calhoun refuses to believe he has a daughter.  Scout tells Bella that it's a bad time to meet his dad, what with all of the campaigning and stuff.

That pretty much works for the episode.

Episode Six:

Not really that relevant.  Oh, except for the fact that Hamilton slips up and tells Jake he loves her.  It was sweet.

Episode Seven:

Just know that Bella and Jake were introduced at the end of episode six, and Bella was smart enough to figure out that Jake's a girl.  She's not very positive, but she approaches Jake anyway in this episode and Jake's finally got a girl to talk to.

Not much more goes on in this episode except for a slight tiff between Jake and Hamilton because Hamilton decided that he'd ask his mom to move into Jake's dorm without consulting her - they wanted more
them time.

Oh, and I should say that Bella's somewhat got a boyfriend of her own.  Sean MacGrail, Will's best friend, who's blonde, jock-ish, and cute.  He's a little rough around the edges, but we like him anyway.

Episode Eight:

So this is the last episode, and I'm taking it quick although there's probably a lot to fit in.  Basically there's a break before Fall Session starts again, Finn tells Will that he's lost his scholarship because the town decided not to keep funding it period.  Finn also tells Will that he's sent off some scholarship applications to some other places, but he doesn't think he'll have a scholarship for the Fall semester.

Hamilton convinces Jake to take a shower with him "It's our last day.  It'll be romantic..." *whacking Hamilton
and Jake on the forehead*  Finn walks in just before Jake's completely undressed(we have no idea as to what he's seen, he has feathers and hair in his eyes) and Jake high tails it while Hamilton freaks out inside the shower.

Bella goes to seek out her mom because the gas station that's her home is going up for auction(Bella's mom left her dad ten years prior).  Jake catches her and asks to go with her.  Bella says fine, Jake decides she might as well go as a girl and changes into a skirt.  Hamilton catches up and goes with them.

Bella sees Will at a bus stop and pulls them all over to find out what he's doing.  She convinces him to go with her, Jake, and Hamilton.  Will sees Jake in a skirt, with no corset(her little chest binder thing).  Bella states, "Jake's a girl, they're not gay."  They leave for Carson(where Bella's mom lives).

Sean finds Bella gone and asks Scout if he's seen her.  Scout doesn't know, but for some reason(it really seemed legit, I just can't remember) he knows she probably went to Carson to look for her mom.  They hitch hike and are totally hating being in the same vehicle together.

Bella's truck hits a tree after swerving so that she wouldn't hit a deer and they're stranded.  They cozy up in a cabin.

Sean and Scout come across Bella's stranded truck, get out of the one they've hitchhiked in, and that guy takes off.  Now they're all stranded.

Sean and Scout walk into the cabin.  Scout sees Jake in a skirt, now they all know Jake's a girl.

In the morning they decide to walk to Carson.

Bella finds out it was her mom,
Donna, who put the gas station up for auction, she basically runs off.  They hitch hike back home.

Jake and Hamilton say their goodbyes,(very touching) and Jake rides off on her motorcycle.

Bella tells Scout she didn't ask her mom whether or not they really were related.

Will decides to go with Scout on his trip to Saint Martin.

Lastly, we see Finn knocking on Will's door to his dorm room before posting a congratulatory letter from the dean on Will's mirror, stating that Will got another scholarship and could come back for the Fall session.

~The End~
