About
Me! Greg Yahr
Hi,
thanks for taking the time to check out my web pages. My name is Greg Yahr and
I'm a part time professional Photographer.
That means that I still have a “real” job. Weekdays I work as a Metallurgist
at a small steel mill in southeastern Wisconsin.
I
began learning photography when I took a black and white class in High School,
but my interest really began as a result of my enjoyment of the outdoors.
Photographing nature and wildlife gave me another reason or excuse to get
outdoors. A few years ago I
re-dedicated my efforts, learning my equipment, reading books and magazines,
attending seminars and spending a lot of time outdoors shooting.
Over
the past few years I have had my images published in local and regional
magazines, such as Wisconsin Trails, AAA Home and Away, Michigan Out-of-Doors
and Modern Manufacturing. I have also sold numerous framed and matted prints.
During this time I have lead several photo workshops sponsored by conservation
clubs, nature centers, and the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural resources.
Recently
I have broadened my photography interests to include Outdoor
Portraiture comprising of High School Seniors, Family Groups, Kids etc. I also
photograph a few Weddings each year, using a photo-journalistic approach to
capture all the excitement and emotion of this very special day.
I
am involved with several local Camera Clubs. Photographer's Anonymous meets at Riveredge Nature Center in Newburg Wisconsin on the last
Tuesday of every month at 7:00PM. The Camera Clique is a fun Group from West Bend,
Wisconsin. This club meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:00PM usually at
Bank One in West Bend (check the web site). I'm currently the President of the
club.
