APPLES TO APPLES by Matthew Kirby & Mark Alan Osterhaus Rating: 7/10 after 15+ plays |

APPLES TO APPLES by Matthew Kirby; Mark Alan Osterhaus art John Kovalic publish Out Of The Box Players: 4-10 Duration: 20-30 minutes PACE: Quick. Announce the card, slap down an answer. COMPLEXITY: Light. Simply choose a witty or funny noun to match an adjective. (Or play 'monkey strategy' and pick blindly, which about as good a chance of winning as actually thinking! =) LUCK: None.. The judge decides who gets the point. TENSION: Low. This game is mostly about laughing. VICIOUS: Low. (Though I suppose the judge could carry a grudge from previous rounds. =) SOCIALIZING: High. Especially when the cards are played, and after the judge makes his ruling.. VISUALS: Okay. Doesn't really apply to this game. Just basic looking cards. THEME: None. Party game. GAMER APPEAL: Probably. But loses novelty. NON-GAMER APPEAL: Yes. Funny, funny game that takes 15 seconds to teach. 2 PLAYERS: No. REPLAY: Average. If you play this one all the time, you'll quickly tire of it, like so many other party games, but this is a decent one. RATING: 7/10 I've played 2+ times. Good with 5-10 players. Best with 6-10 players. |

Quick summary | Not a complicated game, this one is simply a fun party game. Players have red Apple cards in their hand that name people, places, events, and things. One player, the judge, flips over a green Apple card which has an adjective (with several synonyms.) Players throw down a red Apple card that they think best matches the green Apple card, and playing to the judge counts since he picks who gets the point! Some people are literal, other appreciate witty answers, others appreciate utter silliness, so choose your answers wisely. Since the last player to play a red card doesn't count, players are racing to throw a card down and often the answers are hilarious! Fun, ultra-easy to teach, the only slight against this game is its replayability. If played too often, the game quickly gets stale, but you can always purchase one of the expansions! | ||||||||||||||||||
