publish 2F Spiele
players: 2-7
duration: 30 mins.
type: race game

PACE: Quick. Occasional slowdown when an important escape move is required. minutes to learn and a few games to get the hang of. Not too hard on the brain though.
LUCK: None. You can actually plan your moves quite carefully. With 5-7 players, some player choas, but not as much as you'd think.
TENSION: Medium. You can see where the monster is going move so get out of his way! But if another player finds a way to lead the monster right to you...!
VICIOUS: High. But it doesn't have to be. But it can. You can lead the monster to other people...unless your plan backfires. =)
SOCIAL: Some. Light race game with cries of anguish as players realize they are about to be eaten.
VISUALS: Excellent. Great visuals, especially for a 2F game. Only quibble: it is seems like a family game, and has cartoony graphics, but does have "blood and guts" (due to theme) and even several dismembered arms.
THEME: High. Except for the mechanically sound movement point system, the theme is very well applied here.
GAMER APPEAL: Probably. Especially with fewer players.
NON-GAMER APPEAL: Yes. Unless the cartoony but mildly gruesome artowork bother you. (Young families: steer clear.)
2 PLAYERS: Good. (Suppose.)
REPLAY: Good. (Suppose.)

I've played 2 times.
Good with 2-7 players.
Best with 4-? players.

Funkenschlag
Quick Summary | A group of people are tsuck in a castle. Lurking in the darkness is an evil, hungry monster. Can your group escape? Will they make it out alive? Players start at one corner of a rectangular board and race to the other corner, hiding behind stones and each other, shortcutting across blood slicks, and trying to trick the monster into eating the other players' pawns. Each player has several wooden disks (colorfully illustrated) that have movement points on both sides (summing to 7). For example, once a player has moved his '3' the next time he moves that piece, it will be a 4 (5 becomes 2, etc.) Players move all their tokens, then the monster moves between 5 and 10 spaces, unless of course he's especially hungry, in which case he moves until he eats one or two people! Where the game gets interesting is the monster movement. When he starts moving, every space he moves, he look right, forward, and left and then moves towards the closest person he can SEE (remember, you can hide behind stones.) If the person on his left and right are the same distance from him, he keeps going straight ahead. If he walks into a wall, he passes thru it and appears on the opposite position of the board. Players move their pieces to not only escape, but also to lead the monster away from their own pieces and towards their opponents! Slipslide across the bloodslicks, hide behind stones. Try and maniuplate the monster, or just stay as far away as you can. You can even push the stones to make new places to hide, but your opponents can push them away, and the monster...well, he can crush you between to stones! Player move to not only Great graphical style: it is mildly gruesome, but very cartoony. It's suposed to be comical, but families, be forewarned, there are a few dismembered limbs in the bloodslicks. A nice quick race game, good graphics, a tongue-in-cheek horror theme, and a player range of 2-7 (!!!) makes this one a winner for me.
