Many people tell you his name is not important, that he knows who you are speaking of and that he has many names.  These following scriptures prove just how important his name really is:

Exodus 9:16

16:

And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.

Psalms 72:19

19:

And blessed be his esteemed name forever:  and let the whole earth be filled with his praise.

Isaiah 52:6

6:

Therefore my people shall know my name:  therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak:  behold, it is I.

Ezekiel 43:7

7:

And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel forever, and my set apart name, shall the house of Israel no more defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their whoredom, nor by the carcasses of their kings in their high places.

Matthew 12:21

21:

And in his name shall the gentiles trust.

Matthew 18:20

20:

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Luke 9:49

And John answered and said , Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbade him, because he followeth not with us.

Luke 11:2

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Righteous be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

John 12:28

Father, esteem thy name, Then came thee a voice from heaven, saying, I have both esteemed it, and will esteem it again.

John 14:13

13:

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be esteemed in the Son.

John 17:11-12	11:	And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee.  Righteous Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast give me, that they may be one, as we are.
	12:	While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name:  those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

John 17:26

26:

And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it:  that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

Acts 4:12

12:

Neither is there salvation in any other:  for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Acts 5:41

41:

And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Acts 10:43

43:

To him give all the prophet witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of transgressions.

Ephesians 1:21

21:

Far above all principality, and power and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.

Rev. 2:13

13:

I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where Satan's seat is:  and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas was my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth.

Rev. 3:8

8:

I know thy works:  behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it:  for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Rev. 11:18

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.
