Yoshi Stadium's Official Weekly Comic
BACK
Our story begins in the year of 1996. Inspired by smiley faced cheese-puffs, two visionaries by the name of Fierce Deity and Bomber Link decided to make their own comic series. In the midst of all the brain activity, The Yakas & The Wakas was born. With each of them creating their own specific character for the series, the two protagonist brothers were brought to life. However, our heroes wouldn't go long without the introduction of their arch rival. Through very little thought process, the villain Slobber had been created. As the comic flourished with crazy ideas, odd stories, and various new characters, all was good in the land of The Yakas & The Wakas. Sadly, the two artists were forced to go their separate ways when they got different teachers for the new school year.

It wasn't until 1998 that Fierce Deity and Bomber Link would be reunited under the same fifth grade teacher. While their minds may have been together yet again, The Yakas & The Wakas didn't start up again until 1999. The two of them continued where they had left of, and continued to use Yaka and Waka as their main characters. Slobber returned as the villain, and the popularity of the comics began to grow among their close group of friends. However, this rebirth was destined to fail. Separated yet again by the cruel forces of school, Fierce Deity and Bomber Link were forced to leave behind their days of drawing comics.

Chapter three of our story begins in the year 2000. With the two artists finally gaining more freedom with the start of junior high school, along with a new millennium at hand, the time was perfect for The Yakas & The Wakas to yet again return. The comics flourished, and the 21st brought The Yakas & The Wakas into what may be considered its greatest year ever. It wasn't long before Fierce and Bomber Link decided to broaden their horizons with even more Yakas & Wakas material. Spreading outside of the comic world, The Yakas & The Wakas began appearing in their own themed books. Adding even more intrigue to their universe, the character Stick-Man was created by Fierce Deity. While Stick-Man had his own comics and books, he occasionally made cameos in the Yaka Waka Universe.

Unfortunately, a good thing doesn't last forever. Plagued by the onset of even harder school work and a lack of time and energy, The Yakas & The Wakas eventually fizzled out and laid stagnant for years to come. Always in the back of creator's minds, The Yakas & The Wakas awaited the time when they would finally hit it big. Their big break would finally come in part due to Yoshi Stadium, a fan based website created by Fierce and Bomber Link's good friend Pirate Yoshi.

2004 is the year, and The Yakas & The Wakas is the name of the game! With Pirate Yoshi always in search of new ideas and interesting material for Yoshi Stadium, Fierce Deity suggested a weekly comic for the site. This comic came in the form of none other than The Yakas & The Wakas. While the new versions are done with computer graphic programs instead of being hand drawn, the humor and craziness still remains as strong as it was years ago when it started. Even though many interesting and odd characters have been added throughout the years, it is only the core three of Yaka, Waka, and Slobber that remain; although Stick-Man can be found searching for the Sword of Salivation in Spoof Calibur. Nobody knows what the future holds for The Yakas & The Wakas, but you can be sure of one thing. It's going to be one heck of a trip!
