Ephiny

One of the members of Melosa’s tribe, Ephiny stood up in Gabrielle’s defense against her own sisters, recognizing the right of caste that she had earned. The bond between these two Amazon sisters became stronger when Ephiny sided with Gabrielle against Velasca, the goddess of Chaos and former Amazon Queen.

Probably the most significant deed by Ephiny was perpetuating peace between the Amazons and the Centaurs. Ephiny was never afraid to stand out by defending her principles and she married Phantes, a Centaur prince, and bore his child, even though this inspired disapproval from some of her sisters.

She also reigned as Queen for many winters in Gabrielle’s absence.

Ephiny was killed by Brutus in a battle between Amazons and Romans but her death was not in vain. In the words of the Warrior Princess herself, “She made a difference with her life - and in her death, she became a symbol” (Xena to Gabrielle)
