A. Blood Long Spilled (Dark Dealings)
Rival gangs have decided to take advantage of the general chaos to settle old debts and grudges. But the innocent bystanders are racking up; if it were not for the constant rioting, the sheer audacity of the gangs would probably be bringing the whole wrath of the city down on them. A blackout knocks out a half-mile-square for a brief
period, during which a business-man, fleeing some unknown threat, is
shot and killed, his assassin getting away shortly thereafter. The
shen who investigate discover the killer is both a pro, leaving little
mundane evidence [the gun, sans prints, was found in a garbage
dumpster], and possesses an odd "resistance" to magical scans of any
sort. The police learn that the murdered man believed that his life
was being threatened by someone who wanted his business. Then A car-bomb goes off in front of a coffeeshop. A woman was rescued from the trunk moments from being killed by the heat and
flames, while the owner of the car was taken into police custody. He
warned them that if he went in the street, he would be killed, so he
was put in a body-bag and sent out the back, to an ambulance. The
blast is traced back to a hotel room; interrogation of a local Shade
lets the group learn that an almost living darkness entered the hotel
through the rear, and then left shortly after the explosion. Next the ambulance from the previous scene never makes it to its destination. When the duty cop and the two paramedics who rode in the
ambulance are brought into Rose's clinic, the police and Shinma both
rush to the site of what looks like an accident, only to discover that
the car-bombing victim is gone. Rose's medical staff proves up to the
challenge, as Dao-zi and Aysha manage to keep the officer from dying on
the table as a result of his grievous injuries. Sadly, the other group
is less successful; internicine fighting causes a less-than-thorough
investigation, as both the Hsien and the 'aware' members of the police
pursue other agendas. Still, tantalizing tidbits indicate that once
again, the area was engulfed in darkness before the crash. And most recently, as she's getting coffee in her fave store, Sam is
nearly perforated by a housewife-turned-rather-incompetent assassin.
After subduing the woman by shooting her kneecap off, Sam and several
of the shen [with whom a bit of a truce has been worked out] make their
way to the woman's apartment. There, they find signs that the woman's
son has been kidnapped and used against her as a hostage, forcing her
to go after Sam. What's worse, evidence gets left behind making it
look like Sam had been having an affair with the woman's husband,
providing an effective, if bogus motive for the crime. Investigations continue.

Western Religion takes a step into Little Asia... and is not welcome.
Extremists brutally kill the tolerant priest whose only interest was to
help people in need. Even when the extremists are sent to face
justice, the damage is done. A radical zealot of catholic faith takes
control of the local complex of St. Joseph's society, and a feel
of 'religious war' starts to develop. Beyond the mundane problems,
some hints of supernatural influence show... With the best of
intentions, both sides may end up spreading suffering over innocent
people. Who is innocent? Who is merely prejudiced? Who is the real
enemy, using the Church as cover?

Cam: Circle of Blood
1) The Many Fangs of Terror
- Children are disappearing as a new Triad appears on the scene, shoving its way into the child slavery business. After much research and investigation, it is revealed that Kumo are behind the criminals. Missions to purge the ugly threat are carried out and after much struggle, the Goblin Spiders are defeated. However, they leave behind the hint of an even greater and darker master.
2) Dark Velvet
- An angelic spirit approaches the Court and offers to help hunt down surviving members of the Goblin Spiders' slave rings. Success leads the Yang-aspected spirit to help the Court even more, pointing out more targets of Yomi. The Spiders' dark master, Toji, is uncovered, and the conflict intensifies. But in time, it is learned that the spirit is duping the entire Court, and was in fact a Kura Sau working for Mikaboshi, attempting to clean out the pawns of his opponent, Emma-o. Toji, the evil sorceror, defeats the Kura Sau Hana-Bi, and leaves. A Wu of Bone Flower Kuei-jin arrive to offer their own help, and Toji is tracked back down. Though one of the Wu proves to be an akuma traitor working with Toji, the akuma, the bakemono army under Toji's command, and Toji himself are defeated, though Toji actually flees and is dragged screaming down into Yomi Wan...to receive the punishment due failure.
3) River Blues
- The Di Shen inhabiting the hill that the pagoda rests upon demands that the Court looks into the pollution of his sister, the river. The Blue River that borders the pagoda and runs along Little Asia is heavily polluted. An investigation reveals that a Little Asia laundromat using poor chemicals and dumping them in the river is the source. Despite what the Court is used to dealing with, it's revealed that the laundromat is not some diabolic pawn or some half-baked plot to make sure no Nagah get settled into the local scene. It's simply humanity with its head up its dollar-pasted rear. The problem is fixed fairly peacefully and the river now enjoys more cleanliness than it has in years.
4) Reading the Bones
- A stolen tome reveals that the Kuei-jin have the Manual of Yi in their possession, hidden in the great Library of Shadows in Chongqing. Nekoko personally leads a small team on the dangerous mission to recover what is rightfully the Shih's from the hands of those shen who properly fear the righteous wrath of the Shih the most. A copy of the Manual now rests in the Pagoda Library (the original well-secured elsewhere), and the Kuei-jin are so far convinced that the Kin-jin Tremere were behind the theft.
5) Longful Wishes
- Terrorists destroy the TAT (Trans-American Trade) building in the financial district of Kansas City, killing over a hundred and wounding many more. The Court, outraged, investigates, and nearly runs head-first into the Technocracy as it too investigates. Al-Qaida are discovered behind the attack, and behind them are the Ahl-i-Batin on a quest for artifact stored in the city museum. The artifact -- a "genii ring" -- is secured by the Court and attempts to take it by the Ahl-i-Batin are thwarted. Their support of the Al-Qaida terrorists dooms their quest, and all of them end up dead or arrested save the leader who reveals his rogue intentions of wanting the "genii ring" destroyed in the first place. The "genii ring" is destroyed, and the threat of terrorism passes...at least for now.
6) Inquisition
- Race riots sparked throughout the city in response to the terrorist attacks. The people were tired of living in fear of bloodthirsty maniacs, and that fear brought other hatreds to boiling bear. Yet there was more than just racial bigotry at work here. Perhaps some of the citizens were tired of more than just the terrorists. Indeed, a group of vampire hunters calling themselves the Crusaders rampaged through vampire dens across the city. The shen helped at times, evening the odds against the strongest havens of Kin-jin. When the week's bloody work was done, the vampires of Kansas City were as broken as those who doubted humanity's strength in Camden, Maryland -- and many other places, in many other times. Though the undead would assuredly return to the city, the threat of a renewed Inquisition remains a constant threat the Kin-jin will either attempt to harshly deal with -- or once again fear and respect.

1) Ebony House
- One of the Yama Kings attempted to establish a linkage between Little Asia and the Wicked City. This sympathy would have caused both, in turn, to be destroyed and sucked into another Yomi realm when a nuclear bomb was set off; the hodge-podge alliance of shen managed to unravel the mystery sufficently to prevent the plan from succeeding.
2) Nightmare King
- A corrupt Sorcerer seeks to Awaken, by riding the shirttail of another. And if they should both become Marauders, well, he finds that to be acceptable. An extended game of cat-and-mouse that ultimately ends with a quest into the Western Paradise to destroy this vile warlock.
3) Subtle Ladies
- The Wu-Keng send an agent to express their displeasure with the shen of Little Asia. Employing the tactics of terror and misdirection, she manages to force the issue into a stand-off, resolved only with a compromise; if the shen will return the soul-bracelet to the Wu-Keng, the Subtle Ladies will relinquish control of the Dragon of Heart and Tears. Even though this means battling with a demon guardian, it seems like a good deal, to get some peace....
4) Interlude: Changing Masks
The younger sister of one of the shen of Little Asia has managed to uncover one of the still- rotten tendrils of Ebony House. In order to rescue her, they must complete a pact with the fiend who put her in this fix, by travelling to Hong Kong and acquiring the Dragon of Heart and Tears from its guardian, one of the infamous Subtle Ladies...
5) War In Heaven
- A pity it doesn't last. As soon as the shen are given full possession of the Dragon, all hell breaks loose, as one faction after another emerges from the woodwork to lay claim to it; these range from the tunnel-mages of Vietnam to the followers of a blasphemous Kuei-jin Dharma, to one of the ineffable Dark-kin. Even the Metal Dragons and the Shih are interested. Even worse, the nature of the pact made to gain possession of the Dragon in the first place causes the role of "Guardian" to be passed along to new shen, as well, in the manner of an infection. Gradually, the various parties are beaten back or negotiated with, though there is plenty of reason to believe the attacks will continue indefinitely, until one of the Shih turns up to offer another way out; give her the Dragon, and she will hide it where it cannot be found. This is done (after some intense negotiations with some of the Guardians, who begin to see the appeal of the Dragon), and she disappears with it.
6) Writing on the Wall
- A culture clash explodes in the local high school and the shen -- particularly hsien -- are tugged into it as both sides pray for victory. It's a fairly easy matter for the shen to cast judgement on Yomi. But what when the evil is borne of mortals -- even teenagers -- with no supernatural component? (This Story was not finished but will be continued in the near-future.)
7) Sins of the Father
- Following the extended financial crisis in the district, it's time for Mr. Fenics to make a more direct impact on the "people" protecting David. He's as twisted as all indications have hinted at, and moreso. This is going to be ugly... But at last, Mr. Fenics is defeated and relief is brought to the people and economy of Little Asia.
Shooter: Deceptions
1) Scavenger
- A team of X-files-ish FBI agents chase a Yin-darkened monster. With the Court's help, the spectral enemy is destroyed, along with a bakemono servant.
2) One Mind, One Song
- The locals deal with a dangerous and active manifestation of the Weaver -- Stasis -- a MALL. Its minions work to enslave and control people as Drones. The Tokyo Rose complex was finally cleansed of this cold presence, and remains as a normal building now.
3) Ghost of Xmas Past
- The Weaver emerges again, the last attempt foiled but the Great Spider is far from defeated in Little Asia. The shen may have to track their foe down in the Yang World as well as the material realm. (This Story was not completed due to OOC difficulties.)

1) Fist of the White Lotus
- An ancient enemy of Hung Hsi Kuan's family reappeared to settle the score, nearly killing Hsi and the students of the kwoon. The enemy was Bei Mei, one of the 5 venerables of Shaolin and the man long believed to be the traitor to the order. To end his assaults on the students Hsi Kuan accepts certain death in a formal duel with him. The infamous white eye-browed monk seems to be an unstoppable Kuei-jin on a mission of revenge, until clues are discovered indicating that the venerable is a pawn of darker forces. After days of frantic research, the students find the real villain and race against time to stop the sorceror behind not only Bei Mei's reappearance, but his initial dishonor as well. Two battles are waged, resulting in the true traitor of Shaolin being revealed and vanquished. Bei Mei is at last lain to rest with the honor befitting the venerable.
2) Revelations I: The Fallen
- A series of rape/mass murders started in Little Asia, drawing the attention of the Shih and slowly tearing away at the only Catholic private school in the area, St Thomas Aquinas. The school's reputaion for academic achievement, unity, multi-ethnic study and integration in this area were threatened by the sudden rash of murders. The problem came to the feet of the Shih as Father William Liu, the Church's priest and principal, who came to Hung Hsi Kuan for help after the Catholic Church refused to investigate. Hsi, Mai, Sing Ku, and others all become involved as Yomi appear to be behind it all. Unfortunately , this proved to be no simple demon hunt. The warriors found themselves facing a devious enemy with many faces and willing to use the lives and souls of innocents to carry out its work. Furthermore, the Yomi appeared to be of Christian origin and was working to release a greater evil -- one of the first Fallen, an Arch-Angel of Satan's ilk and power long locked away. Before it was over, the members of the Court find themselves bathed in demons, Christian legend, and innocent blood, spilled by one of their own. Only in teamwork, courage and faith in a man who doesn't know his own strength are they able to hold the doors of Hell from opening wide. The cost is high, yet they seem to have won this battle. But does the Devil give up so easily?
3) So You Wanna Be in Pictures?
- Jackie Chan, internatioanl film star, showed up in Little Asia to shoot his next movie. It was an action/comedy about a demon hunter in the US. All goes well until Jackie meets the kwoonies and discovers he and their sifu, Hung Hsi Kuan are dead-ringers for each other. The good-natured Chan is amused by the idea of a "twin" and got all the students a part in the movie -- just in time for them to witness an attempt on his life! With Chan in the hospital, the students and Chan's co-producer talked Hsi into taking Chan's place to finish the movie. Meanwhile the students sought those behind the assaination attempt. (This Story was not completed due to real-life upheaval; will be in due time.)
4) Homecoming
- Hung Lao (Hsi Kuan's uncle) and his wife, Meng Fa, invite all of the kwoon's students to come to Hong Kong for a month. Along the way, they make new friends and undergo life-altering experiences, encounter unusual allies, and face new foes. So far, they've even learned the secrets of Auntie's cooking! ;)
5) Sins
- An unknown but powerful hunter has begun assaulting shen in the district. He is difficult to confront and seems to know many weaknesses of the supernaturals. Where is he getting his power and knowledge? Investigation so far seems to suggest he is a victim from the past, out for revenge against all
shen. Before it is over, Mr. Lin will lay dead, his life given to safe one of those he sought to punish and the young mage responsible for Lin Chen's death banished from the court forever. A loss on all sides.
6) Play

1) Chess, Anyone?
1) A twisted Tengu runs a comic book shop, but the comics were vessels for evil spirits that corrupted the kids who read them. Although thwarted, it was merely a probe to assess the local shen defenses, reaction times, and methodologies. Juri is a shrewd one...
