Disclaimer: If you've
already read all my other chapters, you already know.
Yay! I was able to type
this all up in one day! OK, we're kinda mean to Joey in this chappie, but Caro
and Catherine were really cracking up during lunch, so I put this part in.
A Typical
Day At Work
"You
told Rishid your other name?" Caro asked as she flipped the sign to open.
"Yeah,"
I answered, putting a deck of normal playing cards on a shelf, "I decided
that it'd be my middle name. That way, it'd make sense when you guys called me
Liz."
"Oh,
so you're getting bored of your name already?" Marguerite wiped some dust
off the desk.
"No,
I just like Liz better 'cause it's shorter," I turned around when I heard
the bell over the door ring, "Hey Joey. Tristen oversleep or
something?"
“You
know, you’re really freaking me out again,” Joey walked over to the counter.
“Ha
ha ha,” I was being sarcastic, “I’m a psychic, that’s why I’m able to go onto
the internet and find out all about you.” I turned around and faced Joey on the
other side of the counter.
Caro
cracked up and said, “Liz, Joey doesn’t know what psychic means. He thinks it’s
psycho.”
“Like
Malik and Marik?” Marguerite asked cracking up too.
“Yeah!”
You
can imagine Joey when he’s mad. Oh yeah, they were remembering Esper Roba.
“I
KNOW WHAT PSYCHIC MEANS!”
“Okay
then,” I smirked, “Give me a definition.”
“What
does definiateun mean?”
“Joey,
you’re really stupid, you know that?” Marguerite wasn’t surprised, neither was
I, and Caro was well, let’s just say she was laughing without making any
attempt to restrain herself.
“So,
what does psychic mean?” I asked Joey.
“Uh...it
means...” he paused, “It means...don’t you mean psycho?”
Eh,
you can tell what we did.
“Joey,
you’re stupider than you look,” Marguerite was finally able to gasp once we had
calmed down. Of course I look smart,” Joey was pretty thick.
Caro
looked at Joey seriously, betraying what I knew she was really feeling, “Uh,
no, you look stupid.”
“WHAA?!”
Joey finally cracked, “WHY YOU BITCH! I’M GONNA TAKE YOU ON!”
I
gently patted Joey on the back, “Joey, d’you remember what Caro did to
Tristen?”
Joey
slumped down, depressed.
“Perverted
dog,” I muttered. Joey heard me anyway.
“Why
you!”
“Hey!”
Marguerite and Caro each seized Joey’s arms. “Don’t hurt Lizzie!”
“Yeah,”
Caro continued, “You hurt Liz, we hurt you, simple as that.”
Just
to make him even angrier (sorry, I think Joey’s funny when he’s being too
hotheaded to think straight), I said, “Hey Joey, did you realize that two
Kaibas are in here?”
Caro
and Marguerite caught on while Joey steamed.
“Two Kaibas?
Where?” he demanded.
“Us,”
Marguerite answered simply, “Seto adopted us.”
“TRAITORS!”
Joey broke free of them and “hit” me in the chest.
Luckily,
I was able to block. Now I’m glad that I joined karate, even if it was only a
few weeks ago. (Author’s Note: Actually, I really started in October, but that
wouldn’t make sense in the story.)
“You
really tried to kill me didn’t you?!” I was clutching Joey’s arm at the end of
my block.
Marguerite
reached for the pole as Caro, eh, you get the point.
“Caro!
Marguerite! Joey!” I noticed someone approaching the shop, “Stop fighting! OK,
that’s it. Out! Get out Joey!” Mmmm.........you can say I kicked him out.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Sorry it was so short. I orginally planned it to be
part of the next chapter, but they didn't
really go well together. I also
thought it deserved to be its own chapter. Anyway,
since I just feel like it, here's a little preview of the next chapter.
"Search her, she might have some
valuable cards," the kidnapper told a cloaked figure in the shadows.
"I only take orders from the
top," the other man answered in a raspy voice, "I don't listen to
lower class men such as yourself." He stepped into the light and I saw the
cloak of a rare hunter.
So,
what d'ya think?
