Info: Jounouchi Katsuya (Despite popular belief Katsuya is equal to our first name), or Jou as he is known as in the Japeneese version of Yu-Gi-Oh, has suffered a hard life. Before he befriended Yugi he was a bully who was bullied in turn. He lives with his father after the divorce and he is unable to see his little sister often. His father is an alcholic and it is hinted that he can't keep a job, forcing Jou to grow up much sooner then necessary. Jou is forced to work in order to take care of rent and food. Normally students of Domino High are not allowed to work but they stretched the rules because of Jou's 'unique' case. Only Honda seems to know of Jou's father.
My thoughts: Well, in my opinion Jou is alot smarter then he lets on. He is loyal almost to a fault and he is often compared to a dog. Actually it describes him quite well. As I said before he is very loyal, and is often seen defending his friends or standing by their side. He is also very cute like a puppy too!

Info: Seto Kiaba is considered arrogent by many but no body knows why he is the way he is. His blood mother diead giving birth to Mokuba and his blood father died in a car accident 3 years later. Seto's family sent him and his little brother to and orphanage so that they could take the inheretence for themselves. Even at that point in time Seto's was already showing signs of him being a genius. Because of his love for Mokuba, Seto turned down many offers of adoption. Seto's future foster father, Kiaba Gozaburou, lost to Seto in a chess match and so he adopted both him and his little brother. Gozaburou wasn't the father figure that either of the boys was hoping for. He was a very cruel man and forced Seto to study relentlessly (as seen in the manga with Seto chained to a desk and Gozaburou towering over him with a horse whip). Two stories about how Seto got Kiaba Corp. exist. One was from the manga where Gozaburou threatened Mokuba and Seto pushed him out of the window. The second story from the anime was that Gozaburo threatned Mokuba (anybody hearing and echo) and Seto threatned to push him out of the window and he died of a heart attack. Either one the was no proof to convict Seto.
My thoughts: Many people in the entire Yu-Gi-Oh story line don't like Seto besides Mokuba. His sad past made him hard and cold as ice. It is quite sad how he grew up without love so no wonder he is the way he is. I mean if you were forced to study chained to a desk and by horse whip how exactly would you act when you are older? The only person who can easily see Seto's good side is his little brother. Throughout the story Kiaba becomes a little more bearable and maybe someday he will finally see Yugi and co. as friends that he sorely lacks.
