The HATUCHAMA are a secret society of people with supernatural powers. It is believed that members of the group derive their powers from special training and powerful amulets that have been passed down through the centuries.   Hatuchamas appear to be of all cultures, ages and genders.

Htchma0575 [01-05-1992 08:29]: It is believed that the Hatuchama originated from an order of 16th century monks living in the Amazon on the border of what is now Brasil and French Guiana.  Few people outside of the Hatuchama know of their existence.  But there are enemies of the Hatuchama whose intent is to wipe out the order and steal the amulets.  The first assault on the Hatuchama occurred in 1748. European governments and churches of the time perceived the peace loving Hatuchama as a threat and banded together to destroy them and obtain the amulets.  The result of this attack was the disbursement of the Hatuchamas around the globe.  It is at this time that the order became a secret society -- it's only hope for survival.

Htchma0575 [11-14-1991 22:03]: Only 48 amulets are believed to have ever existed.  The amulets are made from a unique type of crystal that has not been found anywhere in the world.  The amulet instills a power in the wearer, however without the Wisdom of the Hatuchama passed down through the centuries, the power is not properly harnessed or understood.  The power is manifested in many ways - in other words, not all Hatuchama have the same power (e.g., one Hatuchama has the power of partial invisibility, another can communicate with dogs).  The amulets along with the Wisdom of the Hatuchama are passed down from one Hatuchama to another.

Htchma0575 [10-26-1991 4:43]:  Not much is known about the supernatural powers of the Hatuchama.  It is clear that the power differs from one Hatuchama to the next, and without his/her amulet, the Hatuchama is powerless.  Like the society itself, the powers have largely remained secret.  Historians over the years have been able to piece together a list of powers linked to suspected Hatuchama. They include: Levitation, Hyper-Observation, the Chameleon Effect, Hyper-Speed and Acute Sense of Smell.
