The Wrong Conclusions
" You know that if you don’t come with me, I’m going to drag you down there by your hair" Steve warned his co-star, Paul From the movie they were both working on.
While they were still near the set, the two had the weekend off, but had Different ideas on how to spend it. Steve was trying to get Paul to go out with him to some nightclub, But he could barely keep His eyes open.
" Go ahead, I probably wont feel it," he muttered into the pillow, never taking his eyes off the wall Directly in front of him.
" No, because that would be mean, and dragging you downstairs with all those witnesses, now that wouldn’t Look that good now would it".
" You really like getting in the mood don’t you?"
" Hey, at least I’m getting somewhere".
" Great, have fun".
" Okay, I'll make this really easy for you" Steve stood in front of his view of the wall, " if you don’t Get your jacket on right now, I’m telling Leelee why we were really using our hands in that one scene, and you Know what I’m talking about".
" Of course I do, I may be tired but I’m not stupid, that was you who made up that whole scene change thing".
" Yeah well, get downstairs".
Knowing he had no chance of winning, Paul went downstairs and across the street to the club with Steve. Doesn’t mean he was going to do anymore then just lean against the wall while his friend there tried to get Involved with anyone or anything, but he still noticed Paul. After awhile, he still hadn’t budged, but seemed rather interested in something, or in this case someone. Following his track, Steve noticed the waitress who was walking around the dance floor with the drink tray. She wasn’t that tall, her facial structure made her look very young, her long dirty blonde hair was pulled back to show off her blue eyes.
" I’m sure she's going to notice you doing that" Steve smiled. Paul snapped back to reality,
" what, I'm not looking at her".
" Right, that makes sense, seeing as you knew right off the bat who I was talking about:.
" You said she, I’m just guessing" he stuttered.
" Right" Steve laughed, " come on, your twenty-seven-years old, if this was two centuries ago then you would already be married with kids, and now preparing for death, what does that make you think about?".
" That if you existed at the same time, then you would already be hung for insanity".
" My point exactly, that and go say hi to her before you spend the rest of your good looking years wondering why you never said hi to that cute girl at the nightclub".
" Either that or wonder why Steve even made me go to the nightclub that night".
While Steve tried to figure out his comeback, Paul slowly walked over to the girl, who now her back to him. He was just close enough to tap her on the shoulder when she turned in her tracks, hitting him in the head with the tray. And there he was, out cold.
His head was sore, his vision was blurry when he first opened his eyes. The noise that rang in his head was now comforted by silence. Paul saw that exact same girl, dirty blonde hair, blue eyes, looking down at him. He was lying on the stage of the empty club, his head in her lap where she was holding the cold clothe to where she had hit him.
" Steve, he's awake" she yelled, he soon heard footsteps coming closer.
" Hey there Sleeping Beauty" he smiled at Paul as her slowly tried to sit up.
" Careful, I really hit you hard".
" That was you" he laughed, " I just thought that Steve figured out that comeback earlier".
Steve patted him on the back, " no damage, just the same as usual, except for that hideous bruise..".
The girl place the cloth again where his head was sore, " I am so, so sorry, I didn’t know you were there, or that I could hit that hard".
" It's okay, I'm fine, really" the two smiled back and forth, and Paul remembered why he was walking so close to her in the first place, " I should learn not to walk to close to a girl holding a tray".
" Yeah, that’s not all you should learn" Steve muttered.
" Well, I know who you are, which added to the guilt after seeing you lying on the floor unconscious, but I'm Kelly".
" Yeah, she’s a nice girl there Pauly, weren’t for her you would be dead".
" Because he would be in your care, no doubt" Kelly smiled at Steve.
" So you caught on to him also?" Paul asked her quietly, she nodded. Steve s
topped chattering to stare at Kelly and Paul, they never noticed him while smiling back and forth, " um, we really should be getting upstairs, we have to be on the set really early tomorrow, its going to take a lot of make-up to cover that memory mark we should call it".
" I thought we had off tomorrow?".
" You were out of it for awhile, it was nice meeting you Kelly and we hope to see you again soon" Steve pulled Paul by his shirtsleeve. " Thanks again, bye" the last words he could possibly say to her, and it wasn’t because he was being dragged in the other direction.
" Hey, come on Paul, you gotta get up", he groaned as Steve quietly tried to wake him, " if you don’t get up now.." he applied pressure to the sore on his head with his finger.
" OOOWW, what the heck" he sat up, rubbing his forehead as his eyes adjusted to the light in their room.
" Hey, you have to stop dreaming about Kelly and get your head back on track". " I wasn’t dreaming about Kelly".
" Dude, you talk in your sleep, don’t deny it".
" So, what’s wrong with talking about a girl in my sleep?".
" Because, for once she’s a girl you met, and not even twelve hours ago, is it just a concincidence, or are you, well may I not say anymore" he grinned.
" What are you talking about?".
" Do you like Kelly?".
" No, she’s a really nice girl, but...no".
" Sure, we'll see how long that one lasts for".
Between scenes, Leelee and Paul were sitting on parts of the set, playing a game of checkers and having their regular conversation like they did almost every chance they had.
" I wouldn’t do that if I were you" she laughed as he had his hand on one of his red checkers, so he placed it back on the board.
Smiling to himself, Steve walked over to the two, interrupting them, " um, Paul, there’s someone here to see you".
Exchanging awkward looks with Leelee, he followed Steve to the side entrance doors. And there she was again, Kelly. It was like the early day never happened, and he was back to last night. She smiled when she saw him.
