My Study Part 2 My third year in the College was a period of depression for me. I faced a lot of personal problems that greatly affected me. However, I was able to write the curriculum of Pharmacology to the students. The fourth year was no better than the third year, and at this stage I wrote the main bulk of the Medicine for the students. In that stage I decided to achieve something to improve my morale. I have come up with the idea of establishing a student's journal. The Head of the Students Union in the College, Ahmed Abdullah Al-Salihi, was very supportive for the idea. The journal was named Tabeeb Al Ghad (Tomorrow's Doctor), and for financial reasons, it was to be written and published on a board inside the College. The journal contained an interview section, usually with one of the College professors, and a variety of other topics, including a cartoon section done by Hassanin Ali, one of talented medical students. During my work in the journal, I had the great chance to know better many of our professors and indeed many talented students. I did not expect that medical students could be great poets, artists, translators, and computer experts. During the fifth year, the things seemed much better for me. I was elected as a member of the Students Union, and later appointed as the Head of the Cultural Committee. This position allowed me more freedom to write, publish, and organise many cultural activities inside the College. With great teamwork efforts, I was able to organise many conferences and invite some eminent figures to lecture inside the College in non-medical fields. |
