Part 6

:
On this day the US forces came to "protect" our hospital, in fact they came to protect the English patient we have in our care.

When the forces came to our hospital, it was the first encounter for us with them. The marines got into combat stances facing the hospital. Then one of the journalists, who invited them to protect the hospital, explained to them that this is the hospital to be protected. They turned around and took up positions at the entrance gate.

We were watching the Marines as if they were aliens who came from another planet. One of the consultants said as he watched them,"Isn't this the Day of Judgement? Isn't this the end of the world?". I kept silent.

I saw the looters happily doing their job and waving to the US marines and shouting at them "Yes, Mr. Bush." as the Marines watched nervously.

The commander of the group spoke to Dr. Al-Dori and the soldiers secured the perimeter of the building.

I took one of the marines to look at our wards. He was about 20 years of age. He told me that this is the first time he ever travels outside the USA. I did not know what to tell him.

The days passed by, with chaos and loss of law and order devastated our streets. Despite this, the US forces did not make any move to stop the looting of other buildings and did not offer us any real help.

This is how my diary ends, although I still have many things to write about the suffering we still would face following this brutal invasion.
