...various pictures from Galabeya Night, on our Nile Cruise.  We were on Abercrombie and Kent's Sunboat III, a VERY nice boat.  Besides multi-course meals and guided tours (with our Egyptologist/Omar Sharif-lookalike), the cruise had special activities each night.  The galabeya is the traditional dress in Egypt...the galabeyas that Josh and his father are wearing in these pictures are most like the "normal" type of wear...the embellished ones that Mrs. Sims and I are wearing are more tourist-geared.  We started Galabeya Night with dinner of traditional Egyptian food (none of which I can spell)...it was pretty tasty, all in all!

Stella Di Mare Hotel
Ein Soukna, on the Red Sea
View of the beach and Red Sea from our hotel room!  Although it was January 1 when we got here (and thus, a little cool) this has to be one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.  The resort was gorgeous, and it was nice to just "relax".  We watched quite a few movies, ran on the beach, napped, played cards (a cool game called Rook, too...I didn't like it at first, but it turned out to be a great game), and chatted a lot.
Mr. Sims found out about this resort through work, actually.  The whole coastline is covered with mines from past wars, and resorts pay the military to have their newly-purchased land de-mined.  So as long as you're in the resort compound you're safe, but the rest of the coastline is still up for grabs.
The Stella Di Mare had a pond-like pool (immed. behind me in this pic), a manmade waterfall with outdoor cafe area behind it, ice cream and sandwich bars, and incredible facilities all around.
Cha cha cha cha cha-cha, cha cha cha cha cha-cha...
