Literary Devices Alliteration- the repetition of the sound usually initial consonants of words or of stress syllables in any sequence of neighboring words. Ex.1. Brutus “I spurn thee like a cur” Ex.2 Cassius “And leave us Publius” Ex.3 Antony “The enemies of Caesar shall say this” Antagonist- A person or force that causes a conflict or obstacle for the main character. . Ex.1- Brutus “It must be his death; and for my part” Ex.2- Cassius “For we fear prevention” Ex.3- Cinna “You are the first that rears your hand” Assonance- the repetition of identical of similar vowel sounds in the stressed syllables of neighboring words. Ex.1 Brutus “Who is here so base, who is here so rude” Ex.2 Brutus “Live, Brutus! Live, live!
