My Watergarden....
Water in the garden is awesome.  The sound is very calming.  And what's a watergarden without the fish & frogs for entertainment?
Dig Hole With Shelves & Level
Lay a 2x4 across it in all directions and put a level on it to make sure it will fill up level.  Your pond need's to be at least 18 inches deep in order for your hardy plant's and your fish to survive the winter.
Line With Old Carpet & Butyl Rubber
Definetly worth the effort.  Many more hours of enjoyment than the hours of labor to construct it.  There is light at the end of the tunnel:)
Fill, Edge & Enjoy...
Line it with old carpet and then with butyl rubber.  Be sure and leave plenty of excess rubber beyond your eding rocks.
Rule # 1 ~ Make sure of the size before you begin.  Most people start out small and then want to go bigger.  Bigger is better in maintaining the balance of your pond.

Rule # 2 ~ All water plant's are different.  Some will set in the very bottom of your pond, while other's will set only a few inches below the waterline.  Creating a shelf in your pond will give you another level.
