[aiden] Micahels dafne's telling her story now

[Michael C] Hello Andy. Good to hear that

bryan has left the session

[Alado] Hi Aiden, the problem with everyone in Taiwan is connected to their limited bandwidth and each portal is having the same

[Alado] problem

[Alado] loud and clear Michael

[Alado] I hear all your sentences

[Alado] yes

bryan has joined the session

[Alado] no problem

[Alado] that's what I've said to Aiden in the past

[Michael C] Did you hear that Aiden? Shall I use text chat

Milla has left the session

[Alado] you end is fine

Milla has joined the session

[Alado] Vance is fine in Abu Dabai

[Alado] Dafne is fine and Fernanda in Europe, Spain and Portugal

[Alado] yes

[Alado] we hear you in Chicago

[Michael C] Ok - the dating game!

[Patty] I think there are somthing wrong with our headphones.

[Michael C] When I was younger I always foound the dating game very embarrassing

[Michael C] I did not like the fact that it was the responsibility of the boy to make the first move!

[Patty] I can't hear any voice at all! Help~~~

[Milla] sorry i can't hear anything

Milla has left the session

Sally has left the session

[Michael C] Don't worry Patty - just use the text chat

[Alado] so Michael, I said this to Dafne and Vance, you should always do a bandwidth test before with all the users to know exactly what their limits are or else you have this problem and first time users don't know why they are having problems

[aiden] sorry, i was talking with the computer lab admin

[aiden] yes

[aiden] please do

Sally has joined the session

[rivers (private)] sorry. mike.we get a problem

[Michael C (private)] I understand!

[Michael C] So in Taiwan - who makes the first move in the dating game - the girl (woman) or the boy(man)?

[Alado (private)] I've told Aiden about this problem in Taiwan before so you know, if every session you have technical difficulties that can be known beforehand all that happens is students and teachers become frustrated with the technology

Patty has left the session

[Sally] What happened?

Milla has joined the session

[Michael C (private)] Yes - it should have been pre-tested. I think it's too hard to do the speed check woith the students now. Don't you think?

[Alado (private)] It really does require a little preparation so one does not exceed the limits of equipment and bandwidth, just the ramblings of a obsessive compulsive engineer

[Alado] yes Rivers we hear you, In Chicago

[Michael C (private)] This must be v frustrating for you Andy!

[Alado] yes

[Michael C] Yes Sally!

[Alado] we hear you in chicago

[Alado] I have a suggestion

[Sally] what suggestion?

[Michael C] Good comment Sally. But what is your suggestion Andy?

[Alado] why not have each group use one portal at a time so as to limit the bandwidth demand at one time, instead of everyone being in a portal at once consuming all the bandwidth along with the other student's and faculty using bandwidth in other classes

Patty has joined the session

[Alado] What do you think Aiden

[Alado (private)] not at all, I know the technology works, it

[Michael C] Good plan Andy

[Alado (private)] is a user problem and something I've discussed with Aiden a number of times

[Michael C] But Sally - when you go out to dinner - who should ask who? Who makes the suggestion - the boy or the girl?

[Alado (private)] but users don't have a good feel for the equipment and it's a novelty

[Alado (private)] to speak using a compuer

[Alado (private)] computer

[Alado (private)] anyway, I'm off to bed now

bryan has left the session

[Sally] In the first date, the boys have to plan where should they go

[Michael C (private)] OK Andy - thanks for all this. Good lessons learned I'd say

[rivers] hello, mike!

bryan has joined the session

[Alado (private)] bye for now

Patty has left the session

Patty has joined the session

[rivers (private)] ok, let's forget the problem

[Milla] good night Alado

[Michael C] sally - is that the normal way in Taiwan? The boy must be one who makes the decisions?

[rivers (private)] let's talk about the friendship

Alado has left the session

bryan has left the session

bryan has joined the session

Alado has joined the session

[Sally] yes...but the first one...

Alado has left the session

[Milla] boys don't have to be the one who make decisions

[Michael C (private)] Ok - but let's do it in the room woth everyone (not a private session)

[Sally] then, if you and her have the next date, girl would start to make decisions

[bryan] Hello everyone

[Michael C] OK - that sounds fair!

[bryan] The Mic isn't work.

[Gary] Can anyone tell me whay should i do now?

[Milla] sorry I missed the story

[Michael C] Gary - tell us about dating!

[Gary] Hello!

[rivers (private)] yes

[Gary] okay.Thanks.

[Patty] Excuse me..what topic are we on?

[Sally] It's just my opinion...not for all the Chinese people

[Michael C] Do you have a girlfriend Gary?

[bryan] Therefore, I 'd better type in this conference

[Michael C] We are talking about dating

[Gary] No.

[Michael C] Yes typing is better

[rivers (private)] mike, what's ur opinion about friendship?

[Gary] Yes. i see.

[Gary] Yes.Typing is better.

[Michael C] Thanks Gary. Does anyone here have a girl or boyfriend? Or husband or wife?!

[Sally] So Michael..can you tell us about your first date?

bryan has left the session

[Michael C] My first date? Mmm... let me think.

Sally has joined the session

[Michael C] Please talk Bryan - that's fine

Milla has left the session

[bryan] I am here

[Michael C] Sally - I honestly don't think I ever went on a date! I was too embarrassed to ever ask.

[rivers (private)] should be very closed?

[bryan] Why did you feel embarrassed to ask for a date?

MIlla has joined the session

[Michael C] I was afraid that the girl would say no

Sally has left the session

[bryan] First date should be the best.

[Michael C] And I thought is she like me she should ask me out!

Gary has left the session

[Michael C] IF she likes me!

[rivers] mike, i am mixed up

[rivers] what topic should we talk

[bryan] Yap. You are right. Everyone are all afraid that the girl would say no.

Sally has joined the session

Sally has left the session

Sally has joined the session

MIlla has left the session

[Michael C] River - we are talking about dating

Gary has joined the session

[bryan] Rivers. We are talking about date

[Patty] i think girls rarely ask guys out...

[noah (private)] should we have one communicate with you at a time otherwise the message could confused us.

[Michael C] Why not Patty?

[bryan] Yes. That's right.

[Patty] it's kind of embarrassed for girls...

[Gary] Yes. That is right.

Milla has joined the session

[Michael C] WHY????

rivers has left the session

Sally has left the session

[bryan] Girls in Taiwan are always shy.

[Michael C] Oh I see. And guys are not shy?

rivers has joined the session

Sally has joined the session

[Gary] Some of them are not.

[Michael C (private)] I think we should talk in the public room Noah. Is that OK?

[Milla] Some guys are shy as girls...

[Gary] Yes.Some of them are shy.

[bryan] To a certain degree, people always think that boys should be more confident than girls.

[rivers] in the usa, do girls like to go out if she was asked?

[Michael C] Then - is it OK in Taiwan if the girl asks the guy out?

[Sally] sure...it is...

[Milla] It is quite common if a girl as a guy out in taiwan now

[Michael C] OK. Do you guys agree?

[bryan] Definitely.

[rivers] in taiwan, girls rarely ask boys out, i think

[Michael C] Bryan - would you feel happy if a girl asked you out?

[Gary] Yes.

[rivers] yes, i agree

[Sally] I agree with Rivers.

[Milla] Did any girl ask a guy out before?

[Milla] here?

[rivers] bryan, will you say yes?

[rivers] welcome, milla

[Sally] you mean the first date?

[bryan] Well! If a girl asked me to go out, I thought that I could be shocked by her invitation.

[rivers] why, bryan

[bryan] Rivers. It depends.

[Patty] May i ask...how to ask a guy out .?

[rivers] if I were you, I will be happy. what about you, mike?

[Milla] sure...

[Michael C] I would be very happy rivers - no problem at all!

[rivers] ok

[Sally] ask him to fix your computer...

bryan has left the session

[Michael C] :)

[Sally] and then...go out for a dinner

[rivers] well............

[Milla] cool..

[rivers] sally, you are so old-fashion

[Patty] to thank him, right?

[rivers] hahaha......:)

bryan has joined the session

[Gary] i see.

[Milla] That's a brillian idea

[Sally] that's the way I did before

[Michael C] Girls - have any of you ever asked a guy out on a date?

[bryan] RIvers. You are over. I would tell your girlfriend.

[rivers] in 2003, i think people will ask someone out more directly than before

[Sally] ha...is this way out of date?

[rivers] yes, girls, do you?

[Patty] no, I haven't.

[Gary] i am agree with rivers.

[Michael C] Sally?

[rivers] YES

[Milla] I did ask a lot of guys out ...but they are my friends

[Sally] I don't think so...because men appreciate this kind of date

[Milla] does that count?

[Gary] Really?

[bryan] Yes, I completely agree with your thought. Rivers

[Michael C] No Milla I don't think so. That's not a date when you ask friends out

[rivers] hahaha......

[Gary] Me,too.

[Sally] Surely "yes"....

[Sally] I'm a active girl

[Milla] umm..ok

[Sally] in some way..ha

[Milla] then I never did

[Michael C] OK - another question for the girls:

[Patty] if I treat a guy to be friends, i dare to ask him out....but if I like this guy, I dare not..

[Gary] Could you tell us more, mila?

[bryan] hey! Girls. I would like to ask you that have you ever date with someone you have never met before?

[rivers] take me for example, I ask my girlfriend out directly. although i am a little be shy, but when times goes by, it will become easier

[Milla] well..

Sally has left the session

Sally has joined the session

[Michael C] (waiting for Milla to continue)

[Milla] if you don't know her..why would you want to go out with her?

[Milla] sorry I finished..

[rivers] mike, how do Americans ask girls out

[Patty] does it mean you are more "mature", rivers?

[Milla] I never did as a guy out if I want him to be my boyfriend

[rivers] yes, i agree with milla

[Michael C] Rivers - just one thing - I am Australian!

[Milla] ohoh..

[Milla] sorry I thought you are in USA as well

[Gary] What do you mean "mature",patty?

[Michael C] But these customs are very similar in the US and Australis

[rivers] OKOK!!what ever, how about Australian?

[Patty] ha ha...rivers...

[rivers] :)

[rivers] what! patty!

[bryan] Is there any different thinking between Australian and American?

[Michael C] In Australia it is now accepted that women can ask men out. It happens all the time

[Milla] how old when you started dating, Michael?

[rivers] dear noah, don't be shy!join us~

[Michael C] I was about 19 Milla

[rivers] relly?mike!

[bryan] So, you mean that women won't ask men out before?

[Sally] 19?

[rivers] I don;t get it,mike

[Michael C] Yes - 19! Is that OK?

[rivers] 19??milla?

[Milla] what about the average?

[Sally] yes...sure

[rivers] you mean you had 19girlfriends called milla?

[Sally] So...when did you have your first girlfriend, mike?

[Michael C] Younger - the average would be about 14-16 I would say

[Milla] NO!

[Gary] Really?

[bryan] Woo. The soulds like a litttle bit young.

[rivers] really?

[rivers] wow...............cool!

[Michael C] I had my first girlfrind at the age of 14 but we didn't date. We just walked on the beact sometimes

[Milla] You made some mistakes ...go back and check, RIVERS

[Michael C] beach

Patty has left the session

[Sally] Ha......

Patty has joined the session

[rivers] OK

[Milla] my friends started dating when she was 14

[Sally] Ha...that's really romantic...

[rivers] how did you feel when you first date, mike?

[Sally] Nice job, mike!

[Michael C] Is that about normal age for dating Milla?

[rivers] haha.....

bryan has left the session

bryan has joined the session

[Michael C] How did I feel on my first date - over the moon!

[Michael C] Very very happy

[Sally] Walk on the beach.....I'll try next time...

[Milla] I think 16 would be normal

[Patty] what will you do on a date when you're 14 ?

[Milla] can you give me the definition of date Michael?

[Michael C] Yes the beach is an EXCELLENT place for a date!

[rivers] nice question,paty

[bryan] hey Mic. When was your first date?

[Michael C] Good question Milla!

[rivers] i agree with you,mike

[Michael C] A definition of a date??? (thinking)

[bryan] ...........

[Sally] So...if a child had a date about 14, did their parents say something?

[bryan] yes. A sure date!!!

[rivers] guys,date means love??

[Milla] sorry that I don't know

[Michael C] Going out with someone you are attracted to and hope that you will have romance with

[Milla] date doesn't mean love

[Michael C] No Milla

[Michael C] I agree

[rivers] OKOK,milla

[Milla] ok..that's the same as my definition

[bryan] Well! Don't think too serious.

[Milla] thanks

[rivers] WOW,milla, you can be a foreigner

[Michael C] :)

[Milla] well...have you guys had any terribles dates before?

[Gary] i think that dating is the first step you know your girlfrind or boyfrind.

[Milla] so date is after you getting together?

[Sally] Date means you appreciate your date...I want to know more about him or her

[bryan] Hello guy! Where would you like to go when you are with your BF or GF? No beach. How about other places?

[rivers] mike, how about now, do you still date with someone?(am I too directl?)

[Michael C] No problem rivers! I am married!

[rivers] Bryan, how about nightmarket?

[Michael C] You can be direct with me!

[Patty] i don't have much experience dating..i don't know where to go...

[Milla] nightmarket is good

[rivers] I can tell, mike!

[rivers] yes, I love nughtmarket

[Patty] why? nightmarket?

Sally has left the session

bryan has left the session

[Michael C] I think it's a good idea to go places where you can look at things - like a market

Sally has joined the session

[rivers] you can eat and shop and take a walk in nightmarket

bryan has joined the session

bryan has left the session

bryan has joined the session

[Patty] can you talk much in the nightmarket?

[Sally] I love nightmarket

[Milla] yeah.......so the topic can go on easily

[aiden] michael doesn;t have an idea what a night market is. Can someone explain?

[rivers] yes, sure

[Michael C] It can be awkward if you are just sitting and looking at each other!

[Patty] yes...i agree...

[Michael C] A nightmarket is....?

[Sally] No...if you and your date don't have much to talk, nightmarket is a good place to go

[Gary] Maybe finding a place and chating with your GF or BF is a good choice.

[rivers] nightmarket apears at night.and you can eat and buy something there, I love there

[Michael C] It sounds great.

[Milla] nightmarket is a market opens at night

[Sally] Sometime in the nightmarket, you can find something cheaper

[Milla] and cheap foods and things......all over

[bryan] Yes. It can be awkward. But, is there any other way to get along with together? Mike

[bryan] Nightmarket is very prevailing in Taiwan. There are so many nightmarkets everywhere.

[rivers] I have one more question, what if you and your girl or boy who date with don't talk much , what will you do?

[Michael C] If you like each other you will laugh and get over the awkwardness

[Gary] sorry.which place you are talking about.

Patty has left the session

[rivers] i agree

[bryan] yes. You are right.

Patty has joined the session

[Sally] I'll go to movie theather...

[Sally] to kill the time

[Milla] i do that too

[bryan] Awkwardness could be solved by each other

[rivers] smile can overcome everything, hahaha...

[Sally] ha....

[rivers] haha

[Michael C] Girsl - do you like guys to be cool?

[Patty] i prefer to go to some quiet places that there are spaces for you two to talk heart to heart!

[rivers] if yu don't wanna talk, just smlie, right??

[Milla] cool?

[Sally] And what if you and your BF or GF want to communicate something, where do you go?

[Milla] means indifferent?

[bryan] Actually, I think that girls in Taiwan like cool guys.

[rivers] communicate something??i don't get!

[Michael C] Yes Milla - and a bit distant

[Milla] no way

[Milla] I hate "cool" boys

[rivers] I think milla is a little bit cool, i think

Gary has left the session

[bryan] You lier, Milla.

[Milla] I am not

[Michael C] Then why do the unfriendly guys always get the best looking girls???

[rivers] haha......milla you lier

[Sally] Cool boys won't treat you will in the future

[bryan] See. Mike has the same thought with me.

[Michael C] LOL

[rivers] unfriendly guys means ugly guys? or..............

[Michael C] (laughs)

[Milla] Mike..that I don't know

[bryan] why? can you explain that , milla?

[Sally] They are looking for a "girlfriend", not a serious relationship

[Michael C] No unfriendly guys can be good looking

[rivers] really?

[rivers] superficial

[Milla] but I see lots of soso guys get very nice girlfriends

[Patty] sometimes unfriendly guys have "handsome" faces...

[Patty] so girls will be attracted by them...

[rivers] yes

[bryan] yes. I strongly agree with that.

[Sally] Yes...but they don't have a tender heart

[Michael C] Yes - and maybe the girls only go for the looks!! (Boys don't so that!)

[Patty] but i think that's just for a short period of time...

[Milla] umm.

[rivers] heart is more important than face

[Sally] No...fortunately, my boyfriend is not a good looking guy

[Sally] Yes

[Milla] is that true

[Patty] a short perod of time being attracted by the appearance...

[Milla] I think boys like beautiful girls

[rivers] handsome face is not useful

[rivers] i agree, milla

[Milla] more than girls choose nice looking guys

[Michael C] I mean - boys don't do that (just go for a girl because she's good looking!)

[Patty] i totally agree with milla!

[rivers] listen to me, girls

[Milla] I have some guy friends like that........serious

[Michael C] (listens to rivers)

[bryan] Well! In Taiwan, boys would do that.

[bryan] yes. Me, too.

Sally has left the session

[rivers] after getting alone with each other, i find that beautiful girls with no tender heart is not useful

[bryan] I am listening .

Gary has joined the session

[rivers] hahhahaha......

Sally has joined the session
