More Photographs
I always took photographs, but considered them secondary to my main mediums of painting and drawing, that is, until the photographic images began to take on a life of their own. Though my primary medium has changed, I continue to see the world through the eyes of a painter.
Organic forms in nature and urban found art are the main inspiration for my photographs. I zero in on the textures, lines and colors I see in roots, tree stumps, rock formations and water. An ongoing city series explores readymade abstractions on faded walls, sidewalks, rusted metal, torn billboards, graffiti and construction sites. Eroded by time and the elements, transformed by light, these found paintings catch my eye; I slow down to capture what most often goes unnoticed. Chance findings motivate my work -- joy in the unexpected.
