Using the INTERNALS from this hydraulic pump in a specially designed bicycle crank pump:

and using the INTERNALS from this motor in a specially designed rear hub:

..we made this neat looking contraption which unfortunately did not work.

   

We did at one time have the hub laced up to a wheel, with all the hydraulic lines hooked up in the frame, but the crank input speed wasn't nearly high enough to build up any kind of appreciable pressure. Bummer....that was a lot of late nights in the machine shop.
