Chiddush is a selective group with high-level discussions of advanced topics in Jewish law. The talmidei chachamim who prepare these chiddushim hone their skills and thus better prepared to discuss issues with their colleagues and peers.
That requires an explanation and an understanding of some background events.
We had requests to begin a women's group. After some debate, it was decided to start more than one, in order to meet differing needs.
We then decided to create a men's group. We didn't start from scratch this time, though. We modified the existing - but dormant - Chiddush group, so that men could study issues that are appropriate to Talmudic scholars.
These topics may be published at a later date by these Talmudic scholars.
It is expected that the Chiddush group will be most active during the bein hazmanim season when talmedei chachamim are home from yeshiva or kollel and therefore available. However, the group is available throughout the year.
Just as men are asked to refrain from joining our women's groups, we ask women to refrain from joining Chiddush.
