Frequently asked Questions…

Q – What is the cost of joining/participating in events?

A - We simply ask for help in covering the room hire.  We do not pay any speaker expenses, and 100% of our assistants are volunteers.  The entry fee is restricted to £5 for members and £7 for non-members.  Annual membership is £20.

Q – What is the core purpose of the YES Group?

A – We are a group of individuals wishing to evolve in all areas of Personal Development.  This can include Speed-reading, Mind-mapping, Feng-shui etc

Q – What kinds of activities might I expect to participate in?

A – We have a monthly meeting (1st Saturday of every month) where we invite guest speakers to educate and entertain us.  In addition, we offer a social group event at least once per month. Eg. 10pin bowling, pub-treasure hunt etc.

Q - Are there any Religious or other affiliations that YES Group members connect themselves to?

A – Absolutely not!  Meetings are open to everyone, and we have nothing to sell.

Q – Are there any expectations required of members?

A – None whatsoever!  You may take from each meeting as much or as little as you wish.  We are all at different levels of self-awareness and sometimes we are just not ready for the content, or we may disagree with the speaker’s opinions.  We don’t even ask you to come with an open mind. That is entirely your decision.

Q – How is the YES Group funded?

A – We charge for entry, simply to cover the room hire.  If we have any excess funds at the end of the year (or before), we will donate these to charity.

Q – How old are typical YES Group members?

A – We have one regular attendee (thanks to her mum) aged 10.  We do not ask for age information, but it would be fair to say, we all develop at different speeds, and for some of us, that means we seek out, & are fortunate enough to find a group like this at a younger age than others.  At a guess, I would estimate that the majority of our attendees are 25-50 years old (I know that’s a fairly wide spectrum…what did you expect?)

Q – What does the YES in YES Group stand for?

A – Apparently it stands for “Your Excellence Succeeds”. I think that was made up after the title.  Tony Robbins (this is a TR support group) often has his attendees shout “yes” when they determine that they are going to take action, so I guess that’s where the “yes” started.

Q – How long has YES Group been going for?

A – The YES group (www.yes-group.co.uk) started in London November 1993 with 12 people, following the 1993 “Unleash the Power Within” (UPW) seminar.

Q – How often does YES Group meet, and are members required to attend every meeting?

A – We meet in Scotland on the 1st Saturday of every month.  Because Scotland is so large geographically, we revolve our meetings between Glasgow, Edinburgh & Perth.  Therefore, inevitably we do not expect all of our members to be able to attend every meeting.

Q – What is YES Group’s definition of “like minded”?

A – mmm, is this jargon?  Not intentionally!  We like to believe that there are a number of “positive” people, who really do want to “get on in life” and are prepared to spend time, energy and money on books, CDs, and seminars on “self-development
