Basket Brigade

We are delighted to tell you that YES Scotland will be involved in a basket brigade this Christmas.

The Basket Brigade was started by Tony Robbins in 1991. In the United States, it is an annual campaign feeding an estimated 500,000 people yearly at Easter, Thanksgiving, and the December holiday season in dozens of cities throughout the world.

Since 1991 when the Foundation began, thousands of volunteers have fed more than 2 million people!

Stephen Mulhearn and his volunteers at Lendrick Lodge have been organising the Basket Brigade for 8 years and this year we plan to help them out. Last night Mandy attended a meeting about contributing to the basket brigade.

It was agreed that there would be 4-5 drop off points in Glasgow for delivery of food, toys, provisions etc. Mandy will be one of the co-ordinators and you can email her on m.maclean@bio.gla.ac.uk for further info on how/when to deliver.

From now to Christmas we need to raise as much cash and attract as many donations as possible-THAT MEANS YOU!!!!!

If you can arrange fundraising events at work or pop into your local stores for donations please do-every little will help. Everything has to be new-so no second hand toys etc-we want this to be a true good quality gift for everyone!!

The donations will be collected by one of the local coordinators who will arrange for them to be transported to Lendrick Lodge. See http://www.lendricklodge.com/intro.htm.

Any help there would be appreciated i.e. do you have a van?? Let Mandy know! Once at The Lodge there will be 2 days where volunteers are needed to help wrap the boxes and fill them.

Would you like to help with this?? The Lodge is not far from Edinburgh so the East-side folks may wish to contribute at this point? Kids are welcome at the Lodge to help and it should be great fun.

The boxes are delivered every Christmas Eve. They need more drivers to volunteer for this as this determines the total number of boxes that can be delivered. There has to be one sensible male present with each delivery for safety. Do you fit the bill????

Do you have a van we can borrow to pick up boxes from Lendrick on the 24th December???
