SANTA MARIA DEL MAR

Last time i was there wich is recently (new year 2002-2003), on two weeks i had just 3 days flat, 3 days to windy (One shore), and some great surfv the est of the time with perfect 6 foot left on the 1rst and second of january 2003.

Couple great breaks: The best spot to observe the waves is from the roof of the Hotel Tropicoco... Two  Breaks: depending on the dirrection of the sweel the waves will be more consistent at the different spots. 1rst spot that i called las Cabanas (in front of a bar in a cabana): on the right side of the hotel, when the swell comes south ouest. Great rights, not long, quite fast and powerfull. Breaking in the sand banchs about 100m from the shore. 2dn Spot, called la piedra (in front of a big a big peace of concreat where the cuibs stand to observe the beach)when the swell comes south est, breaking about 100m from the shore, on the left side of the Hotel Tropicoco.

Ygal Bendavid, a small day at Santa Maria del Mar, but when the swell get bigger, nice long ride, no one in the water...

Santa Maria del Mar 20 minutes from la Havana, Clear water, blue, send bottom, and sometimes, real great waves. Need some strond swel to work.
