La Setenta (el Triton) | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
LA SETENTA is the most famous spot in la Havana. It is situated in the Miramar neiborhood, at the corner of the street 72 and the first street . We also call this spot el triton because in front of the break there is couple big building named EL triton This spot can be ride at low and high tide, but you'll have to be very carefull, it's shalow and the reef cut big time. The most difficult part of the session is tyo get in and out of the water. In fact the entry point is a flat stone market with a big peace of concrete. This is where you will stand wainting for the right time to jump in the water. Great people in the water, They will make you plenty of room in the waves, Be respectfull NOTICE: Last time i went to la setenta was: January 2004- the place is getting durty, and not really weloming, but the water i still ok, lets say if your girl friend/ boy friend don t surf, it's not the best place to relax!!! |

On a small day, the wave is very easy to take, more people in the water with all kind of rideable boards, peaces of wood, peaces of foam, ...wathever can float is used. Wear Booties for the first times you ride this spot. Trust me, the reef cut seriously over there. No Surf shop around and neither in la havana and the rest of Cuba. Bring your stuff. By the way if you want to leave your clothes, sun glasses, sandals...there is what we call a parqueo in front of the spot. This is a place where they keep the bycicles, but for 25 cents, the guy can keep your stuff the time you'll be in the water. Trust me, it worth it big time...i remember once going back home with my surf trunks and my board... |

How to get there, you'll have the map with the exact position of the break |

Yoan, use to be the local shaper... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Tido and Felix, some local surfers. Felix is on of the guy you can ask about the spots for surfing in Cuba. He is one of the first surfers to charge the waves at la setenta and when the pros pass by the Island , he is one the guide who join them to make the tour of the Island. |
