Grand Knight’s Message
Brothers Knights,
One of
the many rewarding aspects of being a knight is giving. We give our time, talents, and treasure to
accomplish Jesus' work here on earth.
Through a grant from the Florida Supreme Council, we presented a check
for $4,400 to Divine Mercy House on behalf of the Knights of Columbus at our
social meeting on the second Thursday in July.
We have more giving scheduled for August. You want to be there for the presentations to see the fruits of
Christ's work through your council.
The KC's
involved in Habijax projects in September will have the opportunity to give of
their time and talents to this worthy cause.
The goal is to build 100 homes in September! Please sign up at our next meeting or call John Pires at 292-0598
for details. You can find other activities
worth giving to within this month's newsletter. Also, you may check our council calendar at http://calendar.yahoo.com/public/kofc10850_2000. Pick a project (like the annual Fish Fry on
the afternoon/evening of August 19!) and help your community and your council.
Special congratulations go to the family
of Brother Barry Blackledge. The
commitment of the Blackledges to their church and to our Lord is seen often. Another family commitment was exemplified
through work on the cemetery lighting project at St. Joseph's. The Family of the Month is awarded at the
social meeting on the fourth Thursday the month.
Congratulations, also, to Brother Wayne Jimerson as July's Knight of
Month. Wayne's participation in council
activities and diligence in formation of this fiscal year's council ministries
helps to position us for growth in family, church, and council ministries. The Knight of the Month Award is presented
at the business meeting on the second Thursday of the month.
The new
officers will be honored to see you at the formal installation on Saturday,
August 19, 11:30 am, in the historic church.
Light refreshments follow.
Please call Jacques or me by August 12 to confirm your attendance.
Your
participation in last months KC meetings is appreciated. Your continuing input is a necessity!
Pray the
rosary.
Fraternally yours,
Kevin Boudreaux
Grand Knight
Brother Knights:
Two Words on Recruitment: JUST ASK!
Many of you
know that we achieved 620% of our recruitment quota for the 1999-2000 fraternal
year. We also achieved 266% of our
Insurance quota and achieved a net gain of 40 members! Congratulations to all who contributed so heavily in this great
year. For this year, we need to strive to exceed last year’s successes. We will have at least four First Degree
Exemplification’s at St. Joseph, the first one being on September 28.
Our
immediate goal is to have 40 First Degree Members join our Council during the September
Degree. We already have 16 people
signed, so we just need an extra 24.
Remember, for each member you sponsor between now and December 31, you
will receive 500 points redeemable for K of C merchandise. Also, when you sponsor two members, you will
become part of the VIP (Very Important Proposer) Club. I have plenty of applications, literature,
flyers, etc. to help you recruit. Call
me when you need some![1] Recruitment is every Knight’s job. Sadly, the main reason why Catholic men do
not join the Knights of Columbus is because they have never been asked to do
so!
I am
asking every single one of you to make a special commitment: Talk to your
friends, neighbors, fathers, sons, co-workers, etc. Talk to them about the Knights of Columbus. We need them to become stronger, to
accomplish more. To do that, there is
only one thing that you have to do: JUST ASK!
Fraternally yours,
Jacques Aubertin
Deputy Grand Knight and Membership Director
Prayers
Please pray for our Brother Leo
Otto, Brother Harry Kimball’s mother, Brother Peter del Valle’s mother, and for
all Knights and their families.
News and Notes From Around Your Council
· Fish Fry. The Fish Fry is scheduled for

Tickets are available for pre-sale through all knights and will be sold after
all weekend Masses leading up to the Fish Fry weekend, at a cost of $6.00/adult
and $3.00/child. At the door price for
adults is $7.00. Menu includes fish,
hush puppies, french-fries, and cole slaw.
