First Semester PE Final

This final is worth 5% of your overall Physical Education grade.  It is worth 100 points.

Assignment:
You will be choosing an activity to participate in either by yourself or with others.  It needs to be a recreational/sport activity that is NOT offered at YHS.  Only 6 people may choose the same activity so the sooner you get approval for your activity the better the chance of you being able to do this activity for your final. 

After you get approval for your activity you will complete the following:
Research paper (35 points)
Your paper needs to be one page typed, double spaced, 12 font,  and 1 inch margins on the top, sides, and bottom.  You need to research the activity you choose.  You will need to find:
When the activity originated (what year it began); where did it originate (what country); what was the activity originally used for; who have been some of the professional or well known people participating in this activity; what are some of the records held and by whom; anything else of interest pertaining to the activity you choose.

Pictures/Video (50 points)
You will need to have 5 pictures of yourself participating in the activity (10 points each) OR a short 3 - 5 minute video of yourself participating in the activity.  If you do not have a camera or access to one notify the teacher no later than 2 weeks prior to the day of the final.  If you choose to turn in a video you must still have 5 pictures of your activity to place on the poster board but the pictures do not need to include you.

Poster board:  (5 points): Your pictures and research paper need to be arranged on a piece of poster board.  The name of your activity must also be written on your poster board.

Examples of activities that have been chosen:
Dance, hunting, ping pong, roller skating, bowling, jump rope, trampoline, badminton,  bmx, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and hiking.

Examples of activities that will not be allowed:
Volleyball, football, softball, basketball, cheerleading, wrestling, golf, tennis, soccer.
