Journal 6:
Jesus, Model of Faith, Model of Humanity
The main idea to remember in this

section is that although Jesus is fully God,

He is also fully Man.  He loved us so much

that he came down from heaven and

lessened himself to also become fully man.

On earth, Jesus did not become one of the

religious elite; rather, he was one with the

common people.  He loved these people and

instead of preaching solely to the rich, He

preached to the poor and sinners.  These

people, as noted in Luke's Gospel, were like

patients needing a doctors attention.  Jesus

went on to say that the healthy (rich and

religious elite) didn't need the consolation of

a doctor.  By doing so Jesus was thought to

be starange and was very much considered

to be a radical.  He went against the current

and decided to do what was right, not what

was expected.  Jesus' love for us is so great

that he made the ultimate sacrifice, his own

life, to save us from eternal damnation.

Jesus realized exactly what he was doing

and that his actions would lead to his

persecution and death, but he decided to

become fully human anyway.  Therefore,

through His actions, Jesus was truly man,

yet truly human.
The Three Most Important Ideas:
1.  People are meant to be religious creatures.  The vast majority of the world believes in a God of some kind.  So, it makes sense that this is the way it should be.  If only a minority of the population believed in God, the complete concept would be less plausible; however, this is not the case.

2.  The idea of God is a tough concept to understand at times, so stories have been devised to better relate the Truth.  The watch and the watch maker is one such story that tells about a person stumbling upon a watch in a forest.  The watch is such an unusual thing for the discoverer because the watch runs so smoothly and doesn't make sense to the person.  Therefore,  the person figures that an intelligent creator must have created the object.  The same holds true with God.

3. It is often hard to explain how God is possible, but Kalam devised an argument that is very staraight forward and makes sense.  If the universe didn't always exist, then it had to have had a beginning, but sice something had to have been there before the universe and since the universe didn't always exist, then there must have been a Creator, God.
-An image that reminds me of the human Jesus is this picture of Jesus suffering and dieing on the cross. But when you look closely the heavens are oppening up for Jesus to come back to His Father.  Once again, He is both fully man and experiences human pain, yet also fully God.

-A question that comes to mind after studying this section on the Human Jesus is, how come God didn't somehow allow himself to ease his own suffering on the cross?  He was able to cure and confort countless others, yet he failed to help himself.
-I have furhter learned to realize that Jesus' love for us in unbounding and he did and will do anything to help and save His people.  We may not fully understand God at times, but we can still experience his obvious love and concern for us.
