Audition for YJED 2002-2003!
This year's auditions will take place on Wednesday, October 23, 2002 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Monroe Middle School, 1855 Manchester Road,Wheaton, Illinois. The audition material is listed below. Vocalists:
1. "Jump for Joy" by Duke Ellington (Warner Brothers Music- Please call (630) 260-9562 for the music)

2. One piece of your choice (ballad/jazz standard)

Please bring a copy of your piece for the piano accompanist.



Clarinetists:

Note: Because of its traditional and widespread use in bigband style music, we are particularily interested in hearing your abilities on Double Bass (upright bass). You are free, however, to bring an electric bass as well if you feel that it is a strong element for you.


Drummers:

2. Excerpts from the book "The Art of Bop Drumming" by John Riley

3. Please be prepared to demonstrate time and fills in various styles at a variety of tempos    including swing, shuffle, Latin (i.e. Samba, Bossa Nova, Songo, etc.).

Also be prepared to play time or sightread with other rhythm section members.
