Motorola Walk Hunt 2001

Venue: Penang Free School

Penang Motorola organised a Walk Hunt on 2/9/2001. There are 2 categories, i.e. the family and team events. The objectives are similar to a treasure hunt, where each team is to complete the questions given to them except that the team have to walk along the route according to the given "tulips diagram" to search for the answers.. The family walk hunt is a 2km route while the team event is a 4km route. The walk hunt is supposed to start at 8.30am, but was delayed to about 11.30 am due to heavy downpour.

A total of 20 radio operators and SWL's in Penang were requested by Jimmy Khoo (9W2HJ)of Motorola to render their service during this event. Radio operators and SWL's manned a total of 8 communcation stations (CS1 to CS8) along the route and a base station (BS) in Penang Free School (lat: 5° 24'N, long: 100° 10'E). Each CS has 1 radio operator and a SWL. The base station conprised of 3 radio operators and 1 SWL. This event also provide oportunity for SWL to participate in the operation of radio and also proper communication procedures. The duty of the radio operators maning the communication stations are to act as marshall by directing participants along the correct route and to report to base station for any emergency, medical aid and help. They also provide status of the event to the base station.

At the end of the event, there are telematch and food fair carnival in Penang Free Schools and you should see them enjoying the food...............
