History of the Band

The presentYarwell & Nasington Band was formed more than 20years ago

but, it has roots going back in to the early 19th century & claims to be one of the oldest bands in the Country

Our history books show that certain families have been involved in the band for a long while.

The names : Mould,Sardeson & Newton are found on programmes dating many years ago.We are still fortunate to have members of these families playing with us TODAY

This year has seen the Band playing at a diverse number of events & helped fund raisers by performing at concerts

fetes and other events.

In May 2003, the Band travelled to France to take part in the twinning celebrations in the beautiful Loire valley town of St. Andre de la Marche.

In recent concerts we have seen members of our newly formed junior section joining the Senior band to play with us.

19/06/04 Today saw the band play to probably it's biggest audience EVER!!!! We were invited to play at the East of England Country Show in Peterborough and found it a great experience. With only a short amount of time alloted for "turnaround" the band and the stage crew worked together to be able to set up and pull down in 10 minuets.

14/09/04 The band has just finished its "SUMMER" programme of out door concerts ranging from Parks & Gardens to Garden fetes. We finished our series with a concert for UNISON (the public service union)at Wicksteed Park in Kettering. The band is now preparing for its anual concert for I.S.R.T. in Nassington Church in October. For more details contact any of the names on the contact page.

The band is growing at the moment with new faces in the band room.We have seen yet another junior band member linking up with the seniors. Not only has joined us but she has persuaded her DAD to come with her!!!!!! 2for 1 !

Nassington Church

the band present Music for St.George

e-mail or ring for further details.

Another Christmas concert done, this time we ended the concert by CANDELIGHT!

During the first half the church suffered from a power failure wihch left NO lights or power sockets so the band played on using the light from the overhead heating system, which gave us a red tinge. Very seasonal.

Sorry that this bit has not been updated latley but here it comes.

Our first big Concert for 2005 was a venture new to us. A self promoted concert for St. Georges day, and what a concert!!!!! All the music was of an English style From Henry VIII to Elgar. The Band used this concert to raise monies to buy much needed instruments for the Senior band and to free up others for the juniors.

We have yet another busy schedual for the Summer with the normal Parks and Fetes to play at.Grantham,Stamford,Deeping Show,Thurning Feast,Yarwell fete and Nassington Flowershow are just some of the jobs we have coming up.

Two big Concerts in the Autumn..........

I.S.R.T in Nassington Church more new music and what can we get up to this year? Also we have been booked to play at a Trafalgar Day Concert at the East of England Showground..
