Yesterday's News
All the old updates are stored on this page from 1998, and years
gone by... so if you want to see what updates took place on this website in time long
past, they are all grouped right here. Starting at the last day of December 1998 and going
down till February 13, 1998.
Dont want to read this shit? Go back to the what's New page HERE.
Or back to the index HERE.
December 31, 1998: on the last day of December, comes the final update for the year of 1998.
It has been a great year for metal, and Ilya and I wish everyone a very Happy New
Year. To close out the year comes a review of Explorers
Club-Age of Impact. A prog metal disc sure to please the die hard Dream
Theater fans. Check it out on the final day of the year.
December 29, 1998: added Ilya's
comments for the best of 1998, as well as the runner ups. Find it here: 1998
December 28, 1998 part II: the best of 1998, complete
with full comments. Be sure to check it out. Notice: I will tweak the
best of 1998 page a little more to include a few more sections in the very near future,
but I, myself will be taking a short break to work on the Brazen Abbot page for Nikolo
Kotzev. If Ilya has any upcoming reviews I will however, format them for the page.
So do keep check for the expansion of the 98 section and more album reviews.
December 28, 1998: Symphony X Twilight In Olympus
review, thank Ilya for this one!
December 23, 1998 part II: Trying
something new here, four reviews for two albums. You get two different opinions for
Iron Maiden classics, No Prayer for the Dying, and Fear of the Dark, two albums, that are considered to be
the worst of the Bruce Dickinson Iron Maiden album. See what's good, see what's bad,
see how the opinions are similiar, or collide, but most of all check it out.
December 23, 1998: More
album reviews, Helloween's Master
of the Rings, and Keeper of the Seven Keys Part
II...awesome reviews, check em out.
December 22, 1998: make that
two reviews by our new reviewer. Another Symphony X album goes under the magnifying
glass to have every inch of its musical beauty decipher and put into words. Symphony X-The Divine Wings of Tragedy.
December 22, 1998: the
Domain has recruited a new album reviewer, Ilya Ulberg, who has reviewed Symphony
X's Damnation Game. Be sure to check
that out, its an excellent review.
December 15, 1998: well here
I am again, what am I doing here messing with this page again? yipes. Oh well,
Savatage-Wake of Magellan review is now
online and given the full glorious Metal Domain treatment, so grab a soda and settle back
for another album review. Prepare yourselves for the TRUE best of 98 and not like
that crap that I spewed out last year, yikes that was awful. Just wait, its
coming...although I think everyone knows what my number one is gonna be, hell yeah.
Get ready for the final word. Oh yes also prettied up the main page with some Christmas
related stuff. Happy Holidays everyone, don't panic but there's only....9 shopping
days left? HOLY CRAP! get busy! shoo! The holidays are attacking
us quickly!
December 12, 1998: added a
review of Trans-Siberian Orchestra-The Christmas Attic...I
will take a few days off sometime in this month to work on the Brazen Abbot page, I
promise!!!!
November 28, 1998: So what
if its early, here's the review of Yngwie
Malmsteen's-Live!! disc, plus added two mp3's Yngwie Malmsteen-Never Die
and Rainbow-Man On the Silver Mountain. They can be found on the Rainbow/Sounds-Mp3 page/Yngwie Malmsteen Main Page and at the
bottom of the Yngwie Review. So read the review, download the clip and judge for
yourself. If you have any comments add them to the guestbook.
November 25, 1998: review of Pretty Maids-Screamin Live, is online. Check out
the top there, the Metal Comments page is BACK with three new comments, plus the playlist
is updated.
November 23, 1998: added a review for Pink Cream 69's Electrified
cd. Look for it to appear on Birgitt's Metal Area, you can find the link to that on
the links page.
November 14, 1998: alot of stuff has been updated and fixed. The mp3
section is back online *the link was wrong*, two new midis have been added, one to
the Dio page the other to the Whitesnake page, added a new
part to the Yngwie biography to reflect his current situation, and added Dreamspace-A personal page...lots of new updates, I hope everyone
likes it....
November 10, 1998: updated
the band page, with an ALL new look. Let me know
if you like it. Also updated the Yngwie
What's new pages, with a look into what's coming in December for that section. Until
next time..
November 4, 1998: on the what's new page check out the top there, and you'll see a couple of
links to some various things. playlist, where to buy discs, and featured
sites. All three pages are brand new. The playlist, is
a list of 10 of the albums that are currently in rotation here. Where to buy discs
is a listing of a couple of sites that I recommend purchasing from, and then you
have the featured
sites, which are a few sites that I will select every so often as being some of
the best places for metal information on the web. The guide to heavy metal is the
old guide I did sometime ago, the what's new page is the page you are currently on, and
the main page is duh, the main index page. So enjoy the new features and let me know
how you like the new link thing at the top of these new pages.
November 3, 1998: greetings everyone! I took a bit of a scheduled yet unannounced break and
am now back for the attack, with the much anticipated, much awaited, much drooled over
review of Stratovarius's Destiny. According to Noise
Records the official release date is November 24th I believe, for the USA, whether this is
still standing or not I don't know, but the review is now online. And the gamma ray link is officially fixed, I hope.
October 17, 1998: just as
promised, here's The Chemical Wedding album review.
October 16, 1998: updated the links section, the favorites page,
as well as the all time top 20 fav cd's on the fav page,
fixed the link so the Gamma Ray review is accessible, and added a review for John Norum's Total Control. and I gave it the full treatment
too. If I have time I'll do the review for Bruce Dickinson tomorrow.
September 30, 1998: wow, finally got this thing updated again! The Album
Review page has an all new look, and is easier to navigate and to find what you
want. Next update: Bruce Dickinson review.
September 21, 1998: well
hello again everybody. Its been almost a month since I updated the page, and I still
can't get into my file manager. When I have some more time I will look into that
more and try to get this fixed so I can update more often! On the plus side I have
recieved alot of cd's from here and there (mostly there) and will work on some more
"Feature Reviews" and "quick reviews" for your entertainment.
This week (months? haha) the "feature" review is of The James Byrd Group's The Apocalypse Chime. If you don't have this one yet, get
it, its good. Look for the following upcoming updates: feature reviews of Bruce Dickinson's "The Chemical
Wedding" and Stratovarius "Destiny". A new look for the Review Pages, making it easier to find what you
are looking for. And a new album recommendations page, plus a section on where to
buy discs. ALSO been working on the NEW and OFFICIAL Brazen Abbot for guitar wizard
Nikolo Kotzev. More info on that as time progresses. Until next time.
August 25, 1998: I apologize ahead of time for not updating this page. I can't get
into my file manager, and have no idea why. Thank goodness, my sweetheart came to my
rescue and updated the page for me. Thank you for that!!!! So the updates that
would have been, are now reality. Slaughter review page, and a another page full of
reviews so head on over to the Review Page and check
them out!!! More to come soon!!!! Just have
patience please!
August 3, 1998: ok the frames page
doesn't work, and I don't have the patience to fix it right now so bear with me. I
couldn't get geocities to upload all the files so poof on them you know. I am
finishing up the Slaughter review page for
today.
July 19, 1998: yeh one thing at a time. The Domain now comes in four different
flavors...Image Map version, Text version, Table of Contents
version or the all new FRAMES version
collect all four.....err..or something....updated
the album review page to point to the new Age of Consent review,
updated my top 10 favorites page for albums and stuff
and generally patched up a few things here and there. Also added a new mp3...you can check out Crimson Glory's Dream Dancer
song on the mp3 page. Overall a whopping update. All in one day.
woohoo. Download it, surf, read the reviews and have fun.
Oh yeah I wanna do some windows kind of theme stuff. We'll see what happens
with that. Would be cool though. Wonder how many people would want a prog
metal start up screen ? hmm...screwed around with (\/)idnight's The Attic page. Since I
updated it, maybe he won't kill me. hehe.
July 13, 1998: its
been another couple of days since I updated last...but I'm still alive. I have a few
new things coming up, including a few album reviews as well as a new section devoted to
different types of heavy metal subgenres and some of the lesser known bands that kept it
alive...sort of an expansion on the Guide to Heavy Metal page
I did about two months ago. If you haven't seen it yet, feel free to take a look at
it. Its one of those pages that just seem out of place on here and most likely
completely useless. So those are my ideas, and this information of what's to come is
today's update. Live with it.
July 8, 1998: I know I
haven't updated in awhile, geocities ftp has been really messed up and then I started
working on the brand new Virgin Steele section.
I can only hope that it does justice to this superb band. Also opened a comments and suggestions page. So check that
out here. What's next for the Domain? Who knows. We'll see, enjoy the
new band section!
June 22, 1998: big update...table of contents for the Domain is now online. Also
a full review of Gamma Ray's Somewhere Out In Time pretty big update huh?
June 20, 1998: update!! Song reviews part 2, now online.
Detailed descriptions and reviews of some of the best progressive metal songs.
June 12, 1998: Update!!!!! Brazen Abbot, Bad
Religion REVIEW...and the MP3 section
has returned with two mp3's....more to come as
always.
June 7, 1998: jump for joy
everyone, I finally updated. yeppers...so what's here? Not much. AS USUAL so
get over it. Anyway, 7 song reviews,
covering Angra's "Carry On", Crimson Glory "There is No God" and
"Lonely" , TNT's "Fallen Angel", Triumph's "Tears in The
Rain", Lethal's "Obscure the Sky" and finally...Shadow Gallery's
"Crystalline Dream" Song Reviews. Also
did the weekend update for The Attic,
featuring Jealous Lover
by Rainbow which was encoded for me by someone very special, you know who you are.
And you arent just special to me cos you throw VQF files my way either! So if you
are interested, pop by and check that out or just download it HERE.
Until next time..."obscure the sky obscure my mind"
May 31, 1998: finally it is completed....the Dio section's changes
are now officially complete. What was at one time a dorky little nothing of a page
with just lyrics from a couple of songs and a paragraph about Dio has turned into an
entire section, complete with its own Sounds and Links page...check it out...alot of hard
work was involved in making this be one of the best looking Dio sites on the
internet...the band gave me plenty of great artwork to work with.....
May 30, 1998: yep
I have done another update, just not to this page, this time I reloaded all of my old
files to The Edge of Time and changed it to The Darkness and the Light,
a personal type page that I did. Its pretty much there for my own entertainment.
May 29, 1998: updated the links pages, with TNT, Superior,
and Shadow Gallery pages added. I'm not going to check for broken links, if anything
is broken let me know.
May 29, 1998: back
with another page update, this time news on the Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Iron Maiden,
W.A.S.P tour!!! I'm posting the tour dates here
and YES I will keep it updated frequently when more news is released. You can also
check out ronniejamesdio.com which is where I
got the information. Changing the Dio section too in celebration of the tour!!
Keep checking for more updates in that section.
May 28, 1998: part 3 What's New as
opposed to what's old I guess? eww I don't like the color orange very much.
yuk. anyways...somedays you couldn't hold a gun to my head to get me to update this
page, and this time I do not one, not two, but three updates in one day. I must be
insane. The change looks small but took a little bitty bit to do. For all of
those wondering "what nitpicking thing have you done now?" well the
answer is....*drum roll* that funky java pull down thing on the album review
page. I'll reformat it later (later today? haha) and start slamming the thing on the
bottom of some of my pages to link to a standard set of "Rainbowflame's Metal
Domain" (geez that's a tongue twister almost) sections...and oh yeah..those reviews
are still coming...*thinking* about doing a page on a couple of 1988 cd's too...been
listening to Vixen's self titled cd, that a certain someone gave me...and have been
wanting to do a little review of it....why? I don't know...now I'm
rambling...haha...enjoy the Transcendence review, at least that was a REAL update in my
book.
May 28, 1998: part 2 changed the logo on the what's new page.....obviously!! is that
psychedelic looking or what? YIKES!! hehe, I didn't want to use an image for the
page title, but I wanted something fancier than what was there before, and that's the
result!! Such a minor update...*giggle*
May 28, 1998: the first update: Just
one major change...added the FULL review of Crimson Glory's Transcendence, its a rare day when I come
across an older cd that is so wonderfully breathtaking and stands out for it to have a
full review written up for it. I was sick of running into the basic review for this
cd on the web, I SWEAR, it seems several pages have picked up one review and tweaked it
and distrubted it around. This review is all original. *still* working on the
multi 1990 review page...but will have it as well as a review of Savatage's Wake of
Megellan completed, and then I will give that section a little rest. With the Transcendence review, I introduced a new rating system and
layout, which probably won't last but for another review or two, just don't expect me to
go into this much depth for everything. *lol*
May 26, 1998: yeah I KNOW its been a couple of days since I did any real updates to this page,
but I have two projects in the works....a review of Crimson Glory's Transcendence CD and
another classics collection reviews featuring the Slaughter live cd plus their studio
release, both from 1990 and another 1990 release that has not been determined yet (leaning
heavily towards poison) both of those are half finished and I can only hope I will have
them done by later today (I have to sleep sometime ya know) However, The Attic did
get updated with not one, but two new pages of song reviews...and I have been given the
job as the weekend updater for the page! That's big news. Here are the review
pages. reviews
2 and reviews 3.
May 23, 1998:
alright a few basic cosmetic changes have occured, I redid the opening page for the Michael Schenker section (yah I know there's not alot there, but hey...) and also did a special links page for the Yngwie Malmsteen section. Michael Schenker...Yngwie Links page. I'll do more updating later.March 16-17, 1998: ok nuff excuses, I finally updated again, this time the links page, something that was left relatively untouched in a month or two. Updated a few links (yeah I am sure there are some broken ones there, take care of it later) and added a Manowar link section. Also I would like to bring 3 metal tours to the attention of the visitors of this web page. The Rock Never Stops Tour (Firehouse, LA Guns, Warrant, Quiet Riot, and Slaughter) is for SURE. The 5 bands will hit the road together this summer. There is another one being put together...WASP, Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, UFO, and Iron Maiden in another arena tour package. This one is not for certain yet. Then there's yet ANOTHER one on the horizons.....Poison, Dokken and WHITESNAKE (along with 2 other unnamed bands). Can you stand it? Do these sound like AWESOME tours or what? PLUS there will be a progressive festival in Maryland come August....Symphony X will be there and maybe (Angra or Stratovarius?)....I'll keep ya posted, its going to be an exciting summer for sure!!!!! *note...the rock never stops tour and powermad 98 are sure things, the other two are practically nonexistant, so don't get your hopes up*
March 6, 1998:
Hey hey looky here. I get REALLY super bored, and what do i do? I do a page dedicated to my cousin Steve. It was a really boring day, can't you tell? Here's the link..... Steve's Page of DestructionMarch 5, 1998: Ahhh two in a row. Lots of tweaks here and there. The table on the main page has been reorganized and recolored with a rainbow color theme. Changed the font color here and there on a couple of things, added the link to a picture of my cousin Stever at the bottom of the index page, joined a Metal Banner XChange, added a mp3 of Don Dokken's Crash and Burn song, which is on Up From the Ashes, and changed links on the mp3 and the review of the cd page to point to that. Made the new rainbow line seperator, added the "Metal Interview" page. Changed a few links to point to the new Megadeth interview. Whew, a bunch of stuff.
March 4, 1998: Second update for March!! Added the Megadeth-Tales from the Cryptic Tour interview. Also in the past couple of days I have made little tweaks here and there to various pages. Nothing big, but I have been working on it anyway!! Megadeth-Tales From the Cryptic Tour
March 1, 1998: First update for March!!!! Been working on this for 2 days!! A review of all 7 of the original Rainbow studio releases is up and online, with a background I made that took quite awhile to make. Anyway, its up and running, so enjoy!! Rainbow Albums
February 25, 1998: Changed the Metal Reviews page to a different layout, I hope everyone
likes it. : )
February 25, 1998: I have made a few little changes here and there in different pages, which
are reflected on the main index page. There is only one real update worth noting for
today, and that's the review of Don Dokken's Up From the
Ashes disc. To link directly to that Click Here The other big update for today is the cool java script thing on top of the
table on the index page....thanks to Dave for creating that for me!! I ask and I
usually receive from you, so thanks again!! I really appreciate it. : )
February 23-24, 1998: the past two days have been extremely busy!! All of Rainbowflame's Metal Domain files have been moved to a
new home. http://www.cybrjunki.com/~rainbowflame/
I will leave up the original geocities files for now at
the same address and update them on a once per week basis for a couple of months and get
everything in order before I move out. The index page and all the other pages on the
geocities 'Domain will reflect the move by having a link posted to the new pages.
Special thanks to Cybrjunki for hosting the site!! http://www.cybrjunki.com/
Also thanks to Dave and JediCyBabe for all their help.
February, 21-22, 1998: well today I have been a bit busy! Added another webring html thing to the front page, and added the beginning to a new section, with a band biography on one of my favorite groups, Megadeth, done in a slightly different looking style, that I hope everyone likes! Look out for more in store for tomorrow...an album review (hopefully!) and a mp3 update. We'll see what else. Until then, enjoy the page on Megadeth! A fitting tribute to a great band.
February, 20, 1998: nice big update for today, added the Rainbow page, the Friends Links Page, and the web ring thing for the Monsters of Rock WebRing, as well as the The Great Metal TakeOver link. Click on it and tell MTV that you want metal back!!!!! Help us out in this!!!!! Long Live Heavy Metal!! Much more to come tomorrow!!!!
February, 19, 1998: the big update for today is that there is NO update! at least not at this time! I know, that's a sorry excuse for updating this section, but I just wanted to say that there will be bigger and better things added this weekend. Hope to add a new album review or two...a page on Savatage and Rainbow...(maybe Megadeth if there is time!)...more mp3's coming to the Domain...look for Rainbow and Megadeth to name a few...and a couple of new sections will be added....we'll see what. 4 free days to update, so expect an explosion of new stuff. Oh yes, and this site has been getting an average of about 20-30 hits a day in the past few days since Yngwie Malmsteen's official homepage added the Yngwie sections to their link list. So those of you who have dropped by, this isn't a dead site, it will be updated soon and frequently!!
February, 13, 1998: Added Just Say "Johann"---Stuck in the Middle With Yngwie Malmsteen interview from the March issue of Guitar Magazine 1998. Also added What's New page, duh.
