Outlook from Pelling, Sikkim
Indian Pilgrimage 2005
The Himalayas. To see the sun rise over the Himalayas is a mystical and transcendental experience. It is a vision, an epiphany, and awakens something spiritual within - it is a yearning to be closer, to travel deeper, to glimpse eternity....
Hindus and Buddhists revere the their landscape  and worship their rivers and mountains as something divine. The mountains are steeped in mythology, and are thought to be the abode of the Gods. Throughout the centuries the Himalayas have drawn mystically-minded people to them, and have been home to many great sages and saints. Many people make a pilgrimage to the Himalayas at least once in a lifetime to experience the mountains, to worship and be blessed by the gods, to find their guru, to find something divine within themselves. Some stay forever - they have found their home, others journey onwards taking with them the essence of the mountains.

This is the story of my journey.
