I

Helps when you know you're not an expert.  In fact, I say  "You've got to be the expert about what your body and you need.  Here are some tools to help discover."   I've gathered information from many different sources but the practice itself has evolved.  In fact, I feel that they teach me . The other day I thought, "they have such wisdom" or perhaps it's the embryo still connected to both worlds.

Last Saturday we had our first couples encounter, "We're Pregnant!"  In Italy, you don't say that.  We started with talking about what the difference is between saying, "We're expecting.  She's pregnant." And, "we're pregnant."  We've created, are creating.  We're both a part of this.  Both our bodies  feel the changes.  Do They?  There were 12 pregnant women with their husbands, all young Italian men, need I say masculine?   We have a ritua. with a few drops to massage our bellies as they 'inform' their baby what they're doing.  Of course, the baby knows but it's always nice to be told. So, ladies seated and men laying on their backs with their head in their wive's laps.  I suggested that they also massage their belly button where once they'd been connected to their mothers and feel the "Mother".  "Anyone who doesn't want to, just keep your shirt down."  By the time I walked round the circle, all shirts had come up and a journey into the center of creation had begun.

We breathed.  We laughed, rocked, stretched and massaged. ":Gatty piedi"- cat paws, being a real favorite I'd been asked to show the husbands how to massage lower backs and support lengthening the spine with feet on the back.  "Of course, you have to show them first,"  I told them.  "You know how to do it."  After that we settled into a spoon, men holding the women laying on their sides, shivasana with Kriya seeing the golden light in their hearts illuminate and create the image of the child they are creating.  Then that light rose above to bless them and all of us.  Yes, here I am back to blessing but they truly show me the glory of creation and that it's something that happens through us. We're an integral part so we do what we can to accept the challenges and the lessons as well as the joys.

In class I heard,  "My husband loved it." .  "So did mine, and I had to drag him."another said.  "Mine asked when we can do it again." a third said and we all laughed.  So, that's it from here on the Italian front in Trieste.  Come and visit when you can!

We began last November and
we 're bursting at the seams. We split the class into 2 groups and still we're overflowing but what joy!  This is a whole new area for me.  I had had women in class who became pregnant so we worked together to find the right practice and modifications but these are women who for the most part have never done yoga.  I had never been pregnant so I suddenly thought, do I really know what they need? Fortunately, the principles of yoga lus years of practicing listening have created a class where they tell me they feel empowered, like they're a part of the process, learning to understand they're bodies rather than being told about them.
