Born in Sri Lanka (formerly Ceylon), Yolande Bavan started her international career while still in her teens. She toured Australia and Asia as a performer in the band led by renowed pianist Graeme Bell. She has worked extensively in Europe and has acted in plays for British TV and in several notable productions on the London Stage. Inspired by friend and mentor BIllie Holiday she developed her skills as a jazz artist. She came to America to replace Annie Ross in the internationally acclaimed award-winning jazz vocal trio, Lambert Hendricks and Ross. As Lambert, Hendricks and Bavan, the group recorded three albums together. Yolande has appeared in American movies and television and continues her acting career both in New York (On and Off Broadway) and in prestigious regional theaters throughout the country. She has also performed at the Oslo Nye Theater, Norway in a role that was specially created for her unique talents as an actress and a singer. |
