Spring is here and it's time to open the barn doors again, clean the cobweb from those trolleys and start the engine, it's trolley time. This season will be my third year as a volunteer Motorman. My hands have been itching and I could not wait to hold those controls again.
I belong to the Oregon Electric Railway Historical Society and run the Willamette Shore Trolley or WST. This operation runs from April 1st through October 31st, additioanal runs for Christmas are special trips to see the Christmas Boat Parade.
During Spring time, the trolley runs on Saturdays and Sundays, it expands from Thursdays to Sundays during Summer and elimininating Thursdays during early Fall. The schedule for late fall will be the same as Spring. Don't be confuse, look at the table below to clarify the scheduling.
I usually volunteer about twice a month, early shift is my preference, that way, I will have free afternoons. At times it seems like a real job, especially when I have to run by myself. During Spring, the trolley runs two-round trips from Lake Oswego to Portland and back. It runs at 12:00 noon and 2:00 P.M. The schedule expands in the Summer time from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Here is the Table of Departure.
Now that you know when the trolley runs as well as the departure time, how much does it cost to ride it? Here is another table for you to see, by the way, Willamette Shore Trolley is a non-profit organization and all proceeds are used to maintain our century old trolleys.
