"I say how can it be that man owns the land. Can we possess the sky, the wind, the call of the seasons? Man does not own the earth, but rather the earth owns man. We are merely caretakers of the wild for our children. We must show reverance for nature, the ground we share, and the Spirit of the Wild. (Fred Bear)

I just wanted to put my "Thumperism" into the importance of supporting the sport that many of us love second to only our childern. Our children are being told that hunting is a cruel sport where the animal is butchered by the hunter , equipped with rifles that shoot 5 miles. I have yet to see a posititive television program that mentions managed hunting as an important conservation tool. Yet, I see see many that depict the hunter as the villan. As you have probably noticed, usally these conservationist (As they call themselves,) show a video of a "Canned hunt" or shooting something in a manner that relates to people as Walt Disney relates to Winnie the Pooh! Recently I purchased a CD interactive game for the Walt Disney movie "The Jungle book", One of the sections of the game had the guide entering a trophy room and telling how discusted he was and further stated "That he would love to have the head of the person who did this" To me, this sends out a message to the thousands of children who play these games. I have even heard stories where children were told that all hunting is an act of senseless murder which continues to lead game species of the world into extention. These things really bother me! But if I stand by without trying to support our sport, our future generations will be mislead and take the misguided views are being taught in many schools and the general media.

Unless we fight back! The only way we can contribute is by becoming involved and teaching why hunting is needed as a tool for conservation and getting involved in some of the groups that fight for our rights.

Today more than ever, the people of the world need to know more about the outdoors and conservation. Everyday we loose more rights to enjoy hunting and fishing. This loss will become even greater with the next generation, unless we give our time to support our sport. I have listed the two organisations that I belong to and hope that you can find the time to help these groups help us....

Click above or the National Rifle Association!

Dedicated to defending our right to bear arms. With all of the changes with gun owners rights around the world, it is getting harder for the sportsman to own, much less to hunt with firearms. Look at what is happening in Canada and the United Kingdom. Restrictions in Austraila has caused thousands of HUNTERS to give up semi-auto/pump action hunting rifles and shot guns. The majority of the public without knowledge of natural conservation measures are misinformed by radicals who wave a banner for their idealism of conservation. I hope that the uninformed public will see through the lies that the so called animal conservationist are spreading. If not,we may view the future as we do the past. When no concern was given and so many species were forever lost.

Safari Club International

Dedicated to uniting hunters world wide to support the tradition of hunting and informing the general public as to the need for hunting as a conservation tool! I urge you to find out where your local chapter is and hope that you will take the time to see exactly how much these folks do to support our hunting rights.
I will soon be adding a page solely Dedicated to SCI Chapters with web sites. Until that time, the Washington D.C Chapter can assist you!
