The Gi-van-Gi park

Brian is a middle-age Scottish man who runs an Orphanage in Kitaly (an area in Kenya), and knows Kenya like the back of his hand.
My two friends- Irish Billy, Dutch Joost and I, found him an excellent guide and so have been hanging around with him a lot and listened to his half fictional stories, as we suspected they were.

This morning Brian took us for a walk in the city public park: The Gi-Van-Gi Park.
This is a not so big and not so green park with benches here and there, but mostly a place for homeless people, which Nairobi is unfortunately full with. Brian knew the man in charge, David, and introduced him to us. I was joyfully surprised when David showed great knowledge and interest about Israel.

It was heart breaking, seeing all those young boys and girls, having nearly no cloth to their body, all sniffing patrol and glue, all dirty and some having HIV and just lying in the corner waiting for their death.

They all ran to the white men (us), bagging for money or bread. I had a loaf of bread and I took it out. Immediately I had a group of kids after me. I gave it all to them.
Another girl was so amazed by my white hand; she just kept holding and kissing my hand till I was totally embarrassed.

Down in the YMCA pool I met Victor, a handsome 21-year-old Kenyan guy. He was very friendly and we became friends. He dreams of studying architecture in Japan and he showed me some of his works. He is talented.
He explained to me that every Kenyan person has two names; an English name and a tribal name, but then, if the father and the mother come from different tribes, their child would have two tribal names, which is the case with Victor.

Did I already mention how great the food is in the YMCA restaurant is? My breakfast is a huge bowl of fruit salad for 1$ (!!) a full lunch which is a free Buffet of about 10 dishes will cost you less than 4$ and will be so yummy...MM...Also lots of Eagles up in the sky and Hawks.

If you ever come to Nairobi, don't miss the "Carnivore”, it is "the" restaurant around here; they serve game-meat like Zebra Giraffe or even Crocodile...so I'm not so much into this stuff but the place is gorgeous and at night it converts into a disco and a bar.
