Guides - Mt. Isarog

  MT. ISAROG is located 300-km southeast of Manila near Naga City in the Province of Camarines Sur. Rising 1,966-meters above the Lagonoy Gulf, Mt. Isarog is a national park encompassing 10,100 hectares. Its wild and verdant slopes are waiting to be explored.  

Typical Four-Day Schedule: 

DAY 1 
 6:00 a.m.  Leave Legazpi for Anayan, Pili. 
 8:00       Arrive at Anayan, Pili and leave for Goa 
10:30       Arrive at Goa, Camarines Sur and leave for Hiwakloy. 
12:00 p.m.  Arrive at Hiwakloy. Have lunch. 
 1:30       Begin trek from Hiwakloy to Camp 1. 
 5:00       Arrive at Camp 1. Set up camp. 
 6:00       Dinner.  

DAY 2 
 5:30 a.m.  Breakfast. Break Camp. 
 6:00       Start trek to Camp 2. 
11:00       Lunch along trail. 
 4:00 p.m.  Arrive at Camp 2. Set up camp.  
            Rest and prepare for final assault. 
 6:00       Dinner.  

DAY 3 
 5:30 a.m.  Breakfast. 
 6:00       Start final assault to the peak.  
            Bring only daypacks. 
 9:00       Arrive at summit. Take in views and have snack. 
10:00       Start descent to Camp 2. 
12:30 p.m.  Arrive at Camp 2. Have lunch then break camp. 
 1:00       Leave Camp 2 for Camp 1. 
 5:00       Arrive at Camp 1. Set up camp. 
 6:00       Dinner.  

DAY 4 
 5:30 a.m.  Breakfast.  
 6:00       Start descent to Hiwakloy. 
12:00 p.m.  Arrive at Hiwakloy. Have lunch. 
 1:00       Leave Hiwakloy for Goa. 
 2:30       Arrive at Goa and leave for Anayan, Pili. 
 5:00       Arrive at Anayan and leave for Legaspi. 
 6:00       Celebrate acclomplishment upon arriving at Legazpi.

  • The local Mayon Mountaineers club can be contacted through this office. 
  • It is possible to attempt the climb anytime of the year in absence of tropical depressions or if advised otherwise by the local weather bureau. 
  • Guard against leeches especially during the rainy season. Secure cuffs of long-sleeved t-shirt and pants. Tweezers and lighted cigarettes are useful for removing leeches. As a preventive measure, ordinary soap may be rubbed on pants and shoes to ward off leeches.
