This buck was a six-point, but he was the oldest and heaviest deer I have ever taken.

I made a lot of mistakes that morning (like failing to put a shell into the chamber!), but I did just a few things right, too.
After spooking him the first time (when the gun went "click"), I made a wide circle and called to him from the opposite direction. I didn't blow it that time!
Spring, 1997: My eldest son and I, with a jake, 16 lbs., double beard, 5 inches and 2 inches.....
Which won me this most coveted award....
