Welcome to the Adventure of Scouting

Our Troop Meetings are every Monday at 7:30 - 9:00 PM at the Village Community Church of Hayward. Every third Thursday of the month we have our Patrol Leaders Committee meeting at my home, same time. The Patrol Leaders Committee meeting is where the scout leaders meet to discuss and plan the meetings and events for the coming month. We have parent meetings twice yearly in the spring and fall. Refer to our calendar for other events and activities. Also, you can check our website www.oocities.org/Yosemite/8807 for additional information.

The costs you can expect are; uniform $60, Boy Scout Handbook $7, annual BSA registration $18, monthly troop dues $5, cost of events such as food, transportation, and entrance fees. The Scout will also want to accumulate some outdoor gear such as a backpack, sleeping bag, pad, compass, knife, and boots. Once you have the Boy Scout Handbook these items will become clear. I have enclosed an application for you to fill out on your son's behalf. Bring this with you to the next meeting if you wish to join.

The Scout Service Center and Store is located at 8480 Enterprise Way in Oakland. They can be reached at (510) 638-3600 if you have any questions regarding availability of these items and other information. I have included a copy of a mini edition of Boy's Life magazine for your son's enjoyment. This is the magazine that all Scouts receive as a member. You are welcome to call me anytime for further information. The Troop and I look forward to meeting you and your son soon.
