"Lindsay S.A. Boy Scouts to Be Honored"

From "The Lindsay Daily Post" - Saturday, October 13, 1923

I was given this by a friend who works in Lindsay. The Victoria County Historical Society sponsors a weekly feature that reprints old newspaper pages. Below is one of the articles from October 13, 1923, that is of particular interest to Salvation Army Scouts.

Lindsay S.A. Boy Scouts to Be Honored

Many of the local Salvation Army members are taking in the big meetings to be conducted by Commissioner Higgins, C.B.E., Chief of Staff, 2nd in command of the Salvation Army throughout the world, in the Massey Hall, Toronto. Ensign and Mrs Godden, Segt. Major and Mrs. Whitehead, Bandmaster and Mrs. Maslen, Treasurer and Mrs. Stubbings, Scout Leader H., Rahm and assistant Leader P. Groves, Songsters, Alice Whitehead and Nellie Stubbings, will attend from Lindsay.

On Monday night, a great young people's demonstration will be held, when Commissioner Higgins will present the Salvation Medal to some of the Scouts. Scout Wallace Jobe and John Hulland of Lindsay, will be among the number, Wallace Job, having saved two lives this year from drowning and John Hulland, one. Lindsay citizens will be pleased to see these young lads' bravery being recognized this way.
