Adirondack Camp Journal

Introduction

Hi!  I’m Gary and I own a hunting camp in northern New York’s Adirondack region.  Hunting is something I and my hunting buddies take VERY Seriously.  It is a tradition and heritage I am proud to take part in.  We hunt hard, but still take the time to appreciate how lucky we are…

This is a vast region.  We have the opportunity to walk all day and not cut another hunter’s track.  I can clear a ridge and observe an area that may not have been hunted in years…Or I can simply take a watch right behind the cabin, where I know every tree, stump, and rock.  I am fortunate to have that option.  I know it and it’s something I won’t take for granted.

While at camp, I’ve kept a journal that all my guests have signed.  I try to record a camp history.  Most who’ve read it found it quite interesting and the idea got started that I could make my entries available to them even if they couldn’t be at camp… Kind of bring the camp to them.

Over the years, I’ve had lots of guests at camp.  Some have moved on.  Some have become as much a part of the camp as the lumber and nails, because that is what holds the camp together.  My brother Rich, is one of those. So are Pop, Uncle Don, and Jake.  Jamie, “Boo”, and Dave have been coming up for years, and “Chunks” is just starting.  Then there’s my cousins, Mag and Bird.  You’ll meet them all…

I’m not a “techie”, you’ll have to tolerate the crudeness of my site’s design.  But Hey!  This is Camp!

Well here we go.  Hopefully I’ll provide you with an entertaining look at Adirondack Camp Life.  I’ll have a little art, short stories, photos & humor and a taste of Adirondack philosophy!  Enjoy!... Gary

You can’t find your way around the BIG WOODS without a map and compass so I’ve provided one.
