GALLERY OF COMMISSIONED WORK

by BRIAN GRAHAM

# 69. This 'Sleepy Fawn' was commissioned by Bill from Kentucky to put on the door of his new home he had built himself. The woodburning on laminated 3/4 inch basswood is 26 x 21 inches. The woodburning was coloured using oil pencils blended in with low odour solvent. The pyrography was finshed with 3 coats of Krylon matte finish, followed by 2 coats of UV resistant Krylon clear Acrylic finish.

# 71. This 'Squirrel on a Stump' was commissioned by Ida from Kentucky to give to a friend for a present. The basswood box is 7" x 7" x 3" deep and was lined with green acrylic felt. The woodburning was coloured using oil pencils blended in with low odour solvent. The pyrography was finshed with 3 coats of Deft Acrylic gloss.

# 80. This sign 17" x 10" was commissioned to be given for a Xmas present. The letters are outlined with the skew and filled in with a shader tip. Because these rounds of wood are end grained they are really not suitable for carving. The sign was sprayed with an Krylon acrylic UV spray and then coated with 4 coats of Flecto Varathane Outdoor Gloss with UV protection.

# 105. This folding pine Prayer stool or seiza bench 18" x 7.25" x 8" (back), 7" front, was given as a Xmas present to my sister-in-law. The woodburning of a Dove on one side indicating peace and the scripture quote on the other were requested by my sister-in-law. The folding legs slope to the front to give the proper angle for sitting on the bench. The bench was sprayed with an Krylon acrylic UV protective spray and then coated with 3 coats of Flecto Varathane Outdoor Gloss.

# 163. This cottage sign was interesting to do as the owners had the same name as an Italian Wine so we did a variation on the wine bottle label. The sign is constructed of 2 pieces of basswood laminated together. the final size is 18" high x 17" wide. The sign was coated with the West System 2 part epoxy, then painted with acrylics and then coated with Spar UV resistant varnish. I have included the carving without coatings and paint.

# 159. This cottage sign was done on a 21" x 10" x 1 & 1/2" piece of basewood. The dragonfly was wood burned after carving. The sign was coated with a sanding sealer, then painted with acrylics except where wood was elected to be not painted. The carving was then finished with 2 coats of UV resistant Spar varnish. I have included the carving without coatings and paint.

NOTE: Commissions for 'in the round', relief or pyrographic work are accepted. Please send picture, size you would like, and date you would need the work by; and you will be notified of the price and a date when the item can be finished by.
