Deerfield Beach

Quiet Waters Park -- CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE DAMAGE

Terrain:  About 10 miles of moderately technical singletrack trails, though you will retrace your route a bit to ride everything.  Lots of small roots. Small admission fee.  Bottom line: worth a few hours of your time.

Skill
Beginners will find trails well marked, from easy to challenging.
Intermediates will find trails to be easy to challenging depending on speed.
Experts can complete a lap in under 25 minutes!

To Get There:  From the north: I-95 to to Deerfield Beach (North of Ft. Lauderdale, South of West Palm Beach).  Exit on Hillsboro Boulevard (SR 810) and head west for about 5 miles.  Left on Powerline Road (SR 845) heading south.  Trails are on the West side of Powerline Road.  From the south: I-95 to Sample Rd., West to Powerline Road, North to park entrance on left.  401 South Powerline Road.

Typical trail.  Note the roots, which are bumpier than they seem.

Quiet waters is a county park with trails that are maintained by local mountain bikers.  They design and cut trails, clean debris, and make the best out of the available land.  There are wider and smoother trails for beginners, but they can handle intermediate trails.  Bearing this in mind, novices can often bypass trail obstacles without stopping.  There are a man made bridges.  If it hasn't rained in a while trails can get very sandy and slow.  The park is popular with locals and group rides are common.  Races are held here also.  A bike wash is available and bike shops are located just outside the park in case you need quick repairs.

Bermed corner on a fast section of trail.

If you're in the area the park is worth a visit--too bad there aren't more trails in this 400+ acre park.  Luckily the park offers a large water playground, camping, and canoeing for the rest of the family or when you get bored with the trails.  Please note that the park is in an urban setting and not in a very good area of town.  The park is safe, just lock your doors before you ride.
