Balm Boyette Terrain: Nearly 30 miles of beginner, intermediate, and advanced singletrack trails to explore. Skill
To Get There: Take I-75 to CR 674 and head East. Pass SR 301 and turn left on Balm Wimauma Road. Cross CR 672 and turn on Balm Boyette Road. You'll see a parking lot on the right after the corner. A scorching hot ride during summer afternoons! Otherwise, enjoy the fact that all trails are marked. Much more information can be obtained from locals, who maintain the SWAMP site. Dave from Tampa writes this review, who also took all photos on this page: One of the few Florida trails that actually has a scenic aspect to it - what I mean by that is that you're not always riding through a flat tightly wooded area ... it opens up in a number of areas where you've got elevation and a chance to take in a good look at all the terrain around you. Nice.
I like Balm Boyette for the ability to get up to speed and maintain it. Yes, there's technical stuff to be found here, but most of the trails flow nice and fast. Highlights for me are "Spider Berm" and "Golf Cart", great flow routing. "Abyss", wonderful new backside addition to this trail and sections that take you steeply down and then back up (you'd better maintain your speed, or you'll die at the tops). Nicely bermed and benchcut sections, watchout for a few off-camber turns that are risky at speed. And "Loch Ness", hold your line on this one, or you'll catch a bar on a tree or a pedal on the benchcut. Singletrack Fun.
