This is a shot of Victoria ridge looking at it from the North. If comming from Ponderosa creek you'll travel it from left (East) to right. In the second dip you can see the snow schute we took to get down to the valley floor and out of the driving wind and rain.

To go to Cottonwood creek from the lake you need to climb back up to Victoria ridge via a rather steep slope, once back on the ridge this is the final climb to the peak. Footing is loose and the ridge is norrow in places the whole length of the ridge use caution when moving along it!!!

This is a picture of me on top of the peak above the lake, my back is towards the West.

This is looking up at the peak from the West side, this was one of the worst parts of the ridge due largely to snow and ice. Next time we go this is the direction we'll be going. it is unlikely that we will do the Ponderosa leg again. This way isn't much easier, route finding is a bit harder but there are less deadfalls.

This is a shot of Wayne on day 5 at the place where we were finally able to stop without being attacked by those pesky mosquitos. It is also where we realized that we were off course. There is NO trail along most of this route so DON'T do it unless you have good navigating skills !!
