To earn the belt loop:
_____1. Understand proper nutrition and explain the four basic food groups (or food pyramid).
_____2. Understand the negative effects of alcohol, tobacco and harmful drugs.
_____3. Understand the importance of exercise for overall physical fitness.
_____4. Sign the physical fitness pledge:
"I will do my best to keep my body physically fit by refusing tobacco, alcohol, and harmful drugs. I will do my best to eat a healthful diet, and I will exercise regularly three or more times a week."

_____5. Check with your doctor before starting any physical fitness program. (See medical questions on page 11 of the physical fitness sports booklet.)
_____6. Set up a four-step exercise plan.
1. Warm-up period of stretching exercises: 5-7 minutes.
2. Main exercise period: 20 - 30 minutes.
3. Check your heart rate every 5 minutes or so. Find out how do it from the physical fitness sports booklet.
4. Cool-down exercise period: 5 minutes.
