[Held along with the Diocesan World Youth Day Celebration!]

WHERE: ST. JOSEPH CATHEDRAL, 145 Lowell St., MANCHESTER NH
FOR WHOM: Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Adult Leaders who have earned religious awards during the past year. Everyone is invited to attend.
COST: FREE RECEPTION TO FOLLOW DOWNSTAIRS IN THE CHURCH HALL!


Please Note: Religious Scouting Medals for youth should be awarded at the parish level. This is an ADDITIONAL recognition of these youth at the Diocesan level where the Bishop will present them with a certificate of recognition.
All Scouts who have earned awards & are planning to attend need to notify the Diocesan Scouting Office with the scout’s name and the number attending the ceremony so that we can prepare your certificate and the reception. E-mail at DCurran@rcbm.org by MON. OCT. 19, or phone 669-3100 x173.

Directions to St. Joseph Cathedral: From Rt. 93 or Rt. 101 or Rt. 3, get onto Rt. 293 in Manchester - Get off Exit 6 (Amoskeag Bridge Exit) - At the end of the exit, turn to the right across the Amoskeag Bridge through one set of lights until you come to a set of lights on Elm St. - Turn right onto Elm St. (heading south). After you pass one set of lights, you will come to your 2nd set of lights at Bridge St. - Turn left onto Bridge St. until you come to your 1st set of lights at Chestnut St. - Turn right onto Chestnut St. - After 2 streets you will see a large parking lot on your left which is directly in front of St. Joseph Cathedral. - Turn left into the parking lot.

DISCRIPTION OF ADULT AWARDS:

No adult can apply for an Adult Catholic Scouting Award. You can only receive one by being nominated (secretly) by someone else and approved by the Catholic Scouting Committee. We are currently accepting nominations for the 2007 Awards. Nominations for Adult Leaders of Cub, Boy, and Girl Scouts must be in to the Diocesan Scouting Office by Wed. August 1, 2007. BOY SCOUT AND CUB SCOUT LEADER AWARDS:
Bronze Pelican Award (Diocesan Award):


The Bronze Pelican Award is a Diocesan Award presented to adults involved in Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts who have served Catholic Scouting in an outstanding manner for at least 5 years, but who would not at this time meet the requirements of the St. George Award.

St. George Award(National Award):

The St. George Award is the highest recognition for adults who serve Catholic youth through Boy or Cub Scouting. It is a national recognition approved by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS). It may be presented to any adult who has worked actively in Scouting over the course of a number of years and has actively promoted the religious component of scouting in a number of ways.

GIRL SCOUT LEADER AWARDS:
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award (Diocesan Award):


The St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award is given to adults on the basis of their own spiritual life and spiritual contributions to girls in Girl Scouting. it requires a minimum of five years of active service as an adult member. Candidates should be those who promote the religious programs in Girl Scouting and serve as role models of the virtues and ideals of their Catholic faith and Girl Scouting.

St. Anne Award (National Award):

The St. Anne Award is the highest recogntion for adults who serve youth through Girl Scouting. It is given to adults who have contributed notable service over the course of a number of years in developing and leading religious activities. The purpose is to honor the outstanding service of those leaders who have contributed to the spritual development of girl scouts. Recipients of the medal must be active adult leaders and must be registered in the Girl Scout program.
