Words from the Author

Being Scoutmaster of this Scoutreach Troop has been one of the biggest challenges in my Scouting Career. This troop has presented many unique challenges to me. It has brought out the best in me and brought me new levels both in Scouting and personally.

This Troop has not only challenged me, but also has given me such great rewards. It is the little things that mean a lot. The smiles have been the greatest. The Christmas gift that they gave me will stay near and dear to my heart.

If it wasn't for my wife, I may have given up. It has been tough taking over this unit. I have been the fifth leader in two years. It took some time for them to trust that I would stay. They are just beginning to trust me. I feel that they have accepted both my wife and I as one of them. We are now a Troop.

The best advise that I can give anyone that is going to be involved with one of these units is to hang in there. Be patient and get informed. The changes that need to take place will not happen overnight. With time and dedication, it can happen. Get as many of the parents involved that you can. Sometimes, all you have to do is ask and they will help.

Good luck and God Bless in your Scouting adventure.

Scoutmasters Benediction

May all Scouts be prepared to go...not only upon the earthly trail..but also upon the heavenly trail. Whether it be the earthly dawn or the twilight of old age. Til this end, may the Great Master of all Scouts, keep our hearts and minds til we meet again. Goodnight.

Scouter Prayer

Dear lord, from your judgement seat on high, look down on a Scoutmaster such as I. Search me thru and find me whole, then help me, Lord, to reach my goal.

Help me, Lord, to work for Thee, guard my homeland - keep it free. Help me to work with others and be kind, helpful with my hands and mind.

Keep me, Lord, both well and strong, to help growing boys along, control my thoughts, keep them right, sound, clean weapons for life's fight.

Protect my morals, keep them high, grant this to a Scouter such as I.
